So I picked up a decent s3 frame from Paulh on Sat, Cool dude with some very cool race bikes. The frame has a title so that parts easy, whats cool is the frame is a low number, built on August 1973, probably shortly after the s2`s were axed, thinking maybe the s2 frames may have carried over to the 400`s early on, but it is clear that there are differences, not many but a few. Now that I have a blank canvas, I`m hoping I can come up with a cool build, I have some ideas, but all I can say at this point is, all that will be triple is the frame and motor, maybe s3 or h1, a ground up hybrid build, should be interesting, and costly, just need to find some spare cash, LOL
Cheers

Finally a bit of progress in the upwards direction. My daughter bought me a bunch of lumber(early xmas gift), so we built a tilt top bike bench, it took most of a day, it functions as planned and only $95 to build. Put the frame up and proceeded to chop 6lbs of surplus iron off this old frame. Now just waiting for a boat load of parts to arrive, so I have something to do after Christmas. Cheers Boys(girls), and have a safe and happy Christmas

Yes, the whole top pivots down, push the bike up and like a teeter totter it goes down with the wieght of the bike, a short ramp at the end folds back and becomes the leg that holds the top in place. Easy design, cheap and works real nice as tested with the S2. No more cold concrete and back numbing bending over for these old bones.

So my boat load of parts arrived, and I`ve been diking around with some ideas and geometries. The pics shows only rough-ins, will need to get the front end on to get a better idea as to how things need to sit before welding stuff into place. Cheers

Very cool, lots of room for pipes on the right! Nice, when you get a chance, sketch it up to see how it`d configure and look, cause I will eventually need pipes, by then my welding skills should be sufficient enough to tackle a set of custom WTF`s.

Cool, why the cross over?, is that to maintain equal tuned length? Do frame mods mean removing all in the way tabs and such, done and done.

The crossover helps nest the pipe by staging the belly's at different points. Yeah, so mainly bling... lol

Got a little more done on this thing, found a tank that suits the theme, the s3 tank just didn`t cut it for what I was thinking. Had to widen the tanks rear a bit to fit the frame, and relocate the front mounting tabs, done. Finished refurbishing the swingarm, paint, bearings, caliper, disc(new), pivot pins/bolts, done. The front forks are done, new seals, dust caps, oil, paint, front calipers are just waiting for rebuild kits, and still waiting for the steering bearings , in the mean time, I`ve roughed up a seat of sorts, should look Ok once glassed and eventually painted. On a sadder note, my wife`s dad kicked the bucket, {loved by few and missed by none}; turn the note up an octave or two, Gayle`s getting a boat load of money from the old farts estate, and....., has tentatively agreed to buy a motor and maybe pipes for the bike, nice, I luv my wife. so to sum things up, just steering bearings and tires away from a rolling frame. I guess I should mention whats being used in this project, 1974 s3 frame, and an h1 motor(hopefully), sandwiched between a complete 1993 cbr600r front end, and a complete 1987 vfr400 nc24, rear end, not to be found too often in North America, the price was right so why not. Lots O fun so far.
