Think I'd pay someone to do it. I hate stripping paint and I much prefer putting money into other kinds of strippers.

Got the tank in hand from Brad. Has a bit of varnish in the bottom but otherwise in good shape. Going through the carbs now. They're also in great shape. No crap in the bowls but going to clean the jets regardless.

Lookin' good Givr! The insurance question is going to be interesting to follow. On my '05 zx10r Ninja, I had to do quite a bit of phoning around. Most companies aren't even interested in it. I didn't call Dalton Timmis though. They ripped me off a few years ago and I haven't forgiven them. I finally found TD Insurance would take me on, but at the age of 61, with a spotless record it still costs me nearly 2 grand for the year.

Yeah, the zx10r is heavily blacklisted. When my broker entered the vin in the system, it came up as a Ninja full on sportbike, which I guess it is. The age of it doesn't seem to matter. By todays standards, the 89 seems like more of a sport cruiser. The connie with the zx14 engine probably has cheaper insurance.

Unreal guys! I guess it's best to transplant those engines into a model that is reasonable for insurance.

Funny, the Connie with 160 HP and 4 cylinders is $880 with the extra coverage. Thruxton with 2 cylinder s and 69 HP is $100 more. It must be those low bars . They make you go a lot faster.

I really think they need to start taking age of the bike into it...when a new zx10 makes nearly 200HP, that old hotrod isn't even close therefore insurance should be reasonable. Then there's bikes like the fz1...150HP naked bike that's cheap to insure. I think eventually I'm gonna pick up a 2ND gen and put clip-ons and r1 fairings on it
