It's alternator paint with clearcoat sprayed over it. I'm going with a silver frame this time.

I wish I still had photos of my old Honda TwinStar, I had silver metallic frame with deep blue metallic tins. It was beautiful for a little bike

Lookin good Rick,Have you decided on a tank & seat yet. Brad +1 ! lookin good! how about the Airtech tank ? ...$$$$ Not sure if Dave Jones from VRRA would have anything. He made my Tank from an original. he had a good selection a few years ago.

I've got a few feelers out and have a couple of leads for the correct tank and seat. Kicking around the idea of making my own...

Hey that's cool Rick. You must have a real soft spot for that model.I am in the same position. I had a Yamaha yds3 250 when I was 15 & I got my licence on it.Now I have the racing version Td1.I lived 8 miles out of town & almost every day the son of the local Kawasaki dealer would follow me home. There was a three mile straight stretch & I would be flat on the tank wide open when he would go by on his Samurai. The next year I traded for a H1a but always loved that old YDS3.I'm sure that one will never leave your garage.

This week got the Heidenau race tires mounted, chain on, rotary valves re-timed and installed, oil pump and lines on, measured the squish, had the chambers metal laser cut.....going to roll them Friday...waiting for new points plate, pistons, exhaust silencers, clutch plates....carbs being bored out and new exhaust collars made...should run in a couple of weeks... Got this to use as the oil tank:
