Hey Rick Where did you get the oil tank from, real nice. Also is the seat gonna fit over the frame tubes. I can make the seat to your frame width for the outside of the tubes if you want. Are the seat rails parallel? Will try to get to it in a couple of weeks Steve By the way , bloody nice project

The rails are parallel and 9" wide on the outside. The oil tank is from eBay..$40.00 and free shipping...cheaper than I could make one... Thanks for the kind words...see you soon... metal for chambers main body...

I should thank all the members that have helped with this build. Ian Taylor for donating the engine and supplying the frame and wheel hubs. Derek Strange for bringing the parts from Ian's house. Andy at Vintage Kawasaki for the forks and axle adjusters. Steve Brown for making the seat. And of course Steve III for the original A1 and 350 that got everything started. It's all Derek's fault for saying " you should build a Period 1 250 and come out and play "

Steve Steve, my budget this year only allowed me to get shocks on eBay...Hagons were out of reach...I have these on my rig as well, seemed to work OK there.... www.ebay.ca/itm/390679457352?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649we're using them on our Suzuki Endurance bike as well..

I look forward to hearing a ride review of those shocks, it's tough to beat the price.

I look forward to hearing a ride review of those shocks, it's tough to beat the price. Considering the stone-age front fork design, I wasn't expecting great handling at this point. So getting these cheap shocks was a no brainer. If the bike performs as expected, I'll be swapping it all out with better parts next year....unless of course they work well....

There is a guy that as a service, rebuilds the RFY shocks. He claims the internal components are comparable to a more expensive shocks but the assembly is anything but to desire... The same manufacturer? Anyway, reasonable price too. chrislivengood.net/wp/rfy-shocks-rebuild-service/I've bought 2 pair of the RFY shocks, the first pair blew a seal, hence the 2nd pair. The 2nd performed great last season. I'll get the first pair rebuilt at my leisure.

Interesting project. Got my brain juices flowing. I have been toying with the idea of converting a 1970's (of which I have a plenty few basket cases) air cooled dirt bike into a road race bike replica. Not a cafe racer. The world does not need another cafe. Something with a fairing and hopefully street legal. Although I guess every things legal if they don't catch you. I'm thinking a single cylinder 125 would / could be built pretty light.
