Stick that magneto in some evapo-rust for a day/week or so soup and rinse it off with water then wd-40 the hell out of it or any type of anti rust condensation anti rust stuff . Jigga-Lube works well also ... I prefer the latter as it is non oily and smells much better than wd ...

I recommend only a mag cover. You need to leave something that reminds you it's an old bike!

Lol, the rotor is fukced, these bikes were notorious for their weak charging systems, either the stator or rotor being prone to failure. Stator tests ok but dead short on the rotor, luckily new ones can be had for 70 or 80 Bucks.

Major thanks to Donnie.......... some good old redneck tactics to muscle the motor in by hand Use 2 large Philips screwdrivers instead of the long engine mount bolts to temp align the rear mounts. Then two more in the front, or slide the bolt through as it will align quite easily now. An old sled suspension trick. The rest is history. That 900 engine is a heavy one, for a couple of old guys.

Bought a bunch of parts for the CB900 today, got a list of part numbers off the web took the list to Vincent's in Cambridge (Donnie's workplace). BTW Donnie your boss was very complimentary regarding you & is looking forward to you getting better.. Anyway, the thing that blew me away is that all the (OEM) parts are available at unbelievable prices. I walked out $160 poorer but with a bucket full of parts that I'd convinced myself would cost a small fortune if they were still available.
Happy camper..

Cool soup. Sorry I forgot to ask about that for you. My mind was elsewhere..... Ya we're a honda dealer too but that area is why they have a real mechanic working there . Off road stuff, no new street bikes. Forest is my new mentor. Have i ever learned alot from him so far. Altho I may have to take a course in P.C.before i go back to the college. They arent quite as refined as myself

Honda does a great job supporting their older bikes! Something Kawasaki could learn from.

Very nice job Soup. Thoes rotors I've had trouble with in the past. Even though they pass the resistance tests, they still may not work properly. Let me know if you need anything, I work at a Honda shop so I have direct contact with Honda Canada
