I figure if I start a thread, it will give me a bit of motivation... ;D Last summer was wicked with the new pipes, but it sort of turned me into a power junkie ;D I'm not giving up on the 400, It's going into a roller I got from Roland... Thanks buddy As soon as I get around to making the port map, Rick is going to do his magic on the top end, use the 500 carbs and the skinny pipes and I'm good to go. I even managed to find a pristine tranny to replace the pooched one! ($30...lol) but that is for next winter... With the motor from the 500 That Neil found for me last summer Thanks Buddy I took the top end off and shipped it down to Jamoo for stage II reeds, porting and re cut combustion chambers. I bought some Kiehin PJ 34's on flea bay, crank is going up to tnut Don along with the next batch of pipe segments. I hope to do the Dale motor conversion before Father's Day weekend and go from there... Other stuff I'd like to do is swap the front forks out for the H1's after they are rebuilt with progressive rate springs and the modern damper valve. but that stuff is going to have to wait a bit... I'm blowin the budget on the motor... ;D ;D ;D I started tearing down the motor yesterday, I made a short video of my findings...

Lookin' good Andrew! The project I mean!! I'm not a guy that can comment about your engine internals as I haven't yet torn one down myself. I've got 500 and 750 basket cases of my own that came all apart like puzzles! The plan would be to build a couple of "hot" motors, just for fun and an education! ;D I'm gonna have fun with them some day! ;D ;D I'll be pickin' your brain later! ;D Oh ya. Starting a thread is a good idea. It can get a little discouraging, however, when not much is progressing! I'm sure that won't be you though! ;D

not sure if she sounds most like a licence-loser or a walmser-killer , but she should not lack in power with that blueprint !!!

you don't have to use that crank in those cases you have others. so when you sending that crank? hmm reminder to self set center cyinder 10 degree's out of phase to keep walms from stoping all over my stock 500 oh and screw up pipe tune lenght to really have him scratching his head.oh did i say that out load sorry ;D

I think I'm going to have to get some motor work done so mine can keep up.. nice project. That's a rubber mounted H1 motor that you are putting in?

Thanks for the tour of your basement! I like that rustic lamp on the desk, When you turn the crank to different positions, do the same bearings spin free in the case? Trying to determine if your crank is "bowed".

I'm not sure what you fellers are talkin about, this bike will rarely see the north side of the posted limit... on 1 wheel. ;D No proof that the crank is straight at the moment but the bearing between right and center cylinder has signs of fretting, so I'm convinced that bore is oversize as well... I'm also guessing the only way to use these cases would be to: A- Use bearing retaining compound and keep my fingers crossed B- Go to Metal-On across town and inquire how much to brush plate the case inserts and then re-align bore ... C- Oversize bearings and align bore... D- Scrap the cases and use the cases from Don's motor... I'd still have to machine for rubber mounts on this motor. Time for more pics ;D I used a height gauge to measure the step on this race- .005" some fretting on the upper housing Tranny gives wood ;D Crank nice and purdy too more wood Not quite as nice as the rest of the tranny... What's the minimum thickness on these puppies? A likely candidate...

Will do on the forks Don. IMO the 70 motor isn't suitable for modification. The mount boss is only 24mm. the wall thickness of the bushing could only be about 3 mm... I doubt I'd get much dampening there... Woyuld you say the rubber mounted cases are toast?
