I found most of it along the way. Hasn't been a cheap process.
Due to personal reasons I'm going to be selling it when completed. Hoping I can get back most of what I have into it. I originally wanted to keep it but sh!t happens I guess.

Hi guys. I have a question about this. My final assembly is going ok-ish, but last night I hit a snag. I went to put on my top triple clamp after installing all the fork cover stuff, washers, gaskets etc on the forks. It seems like my fork covers are too long or something, since the clamp is not seating down onto the stem like I expected, there was like a 1/2" gap. Now I realized after I don't have the big wavy washer on top of my stem nut, but does that really take up that much space? All of this stuff came off the bike, was re-chromed/painted and whatnot, now is going back on. So I know it fit at some point. Just wondering if I could have messed it up somehow. Everything is stock except for the All Balls taper bearing kit I put in. But I never had this issue with my KZ after doing the same. It is quite common for the fork ears to be loose after installing tapered head bearings...they do take up more space. I have to put a few washers on my H2 forks in order to fill the gap. Definitely not 1/2" but enough to make the headlight loose and go "clunk" when you run over a bump.

Thats weird. I have the opposite problem. Mine dont seem to be taking up enough space. My gap is back on the stem.

That is weird... Any chance you could post some close up pictures? Maybe a fresh set of eyes will see something

Depending on the tapered kit - some recommend to measure and to use a spacer (for example on a 1983CB750 nighthawk I just did required a spacer) to take up the needed spot and keep everything proper.

Sounds like he's got the oppisite problem though.. instead of the taper bearings being too tall he's lost 1/2". ----- Might be obvious..but did you remove tbe original bearing race before installing the new bearings? Its about 1/2" tall..

I know it's really weird. I'll take a pic when I can. Be interesting to compare to pics of other bikes.

Figured it out after. Turns out I had the fork cover washers/gaskets in the wrong order. Serves me right for trying to follow the parts diagram for assembly.
The project continues, now I have to find a shifter linkage Connector B that I think I've misplaced.

Few updates, its slow going as I keep finding missing stuff. Latest thing is the oil pipe hold down clip. I remember having it but I didn't know what it was and it might have gotten tossed. Dummy. New Wiseco pistons! Cylinders fitted! Wee heavy by moonlight!

I love the look of a clean build like this... so much potential what did you use to paint the frame?

Thanks guys, its really coming along. I'll have more updates soon but I hurt my knee recently and haven't been able to get out. I'm fine, its a recurring thing, just takes a few weeks to heal. The frame, battery box, swingarm, center stand, and side stand was done with a baked on coating. It came out excellent, and its very tough. www.renuindustries.com/Everything that was aluminium was vapour blasted, yes. Except the forks, they were done up to 2000 grit paper, then 0000 steel wool, then clear coat. Closest thing to stock I hear.
