What do the plugs look like, do some plug chops that will tell you in a hurry what condition it is

Because if you are running 97.5 instead of a 145 that will cause issue,
But,
I still think it's electrical of some sort, either the field is breaking down under heavy load or something of that nature

That page with 97.5 is the A7 Shop Manual. What's this stuf about the rookies? I would think that kawasaki would know.

BTW, VM 28SC is the same carb as used on the H1.

I wasn't implying that you were a rookie. Was just saying that I have seen a lot hex jets where round should be.There are a lot of hacks out there & just because it came to you that way, does not make it right.Your bike is a later model & it makes sense they would use the same carb as the h1 & the same hex jet.But be ware that the used the same carbs on the 67 350 Yamaha with round jets.I would also check the needle jet for correctness.I was not trying to offend you in any way.Just trying to help with the problem.

Neither was I directing my comments towards you either Dave. I just had a mental picture of my experiences in the past where someone has tried to force a M6 into a 1/4-20... You think Motorsport is bad, checkout industry!

LoL, SHow some respect, I'm the Rookie, Dave, you can be the Hack. "It's not just good, it's good enuff" is how my seal of approval is stated publicly. Thats been on the hood of my sled for the past 14 years. I guess nothing is sacred Dave, Armoural the seat, that should give you the arm straightening pull your looking for

Good advice Donnie.
BTW, I was not offended by either of you guys. I appreciate the input on this very mysterious ailment.
Everything I do seems to help a bit. Today I re-torqued the heads which were a little loose after a few heat cycles. I am going to replace one choke plunger although it looks ok, the one cylinder is a bit rich still. Who knows, maybe that will make it perfect. Or , at least, more better. Maybe not most better, but more better.

I have a rich condition. It seems that the PO put an aftermarket carb kit in it.
i think that the needles are no good. Of course, jet needles, 5E14 are no longer available. Since the cylinder sizes are very close, and both use VM 28SC carbs. Cutaways are different, A7 2.5 , H1 3.0 same pilots and 1 size difference in mains, can I use a 5GL needle from an H1? A7 spec shows position 4 and H1 shows position 3.
In the meantime, Andy is looking to see if he has the right needles which would make this all academic.

Why do you think the needles are no good, as in the PO installed aftermarket needles with an improper taper?
I wouldn't hesitate to try those needles from an H1 especially if you have a set there...

I suppose needle taper would have an effect above 1/2 throttle but diminishes by the time you are at wide open. I would get the main jet sorted at this point.
