I think Yvon and Kawasaki parted ways at the end of the 76 season. So probably 1977 with Steve Baker & Yamaha Canada. According to Crussel he believes his KR bike is Yvons raced at Mosport reportedly brought in by Kawasaki France for 1978 Mosport

In '76 and '77 Yvon is listed as a Kawasaki rider in Formula 750. Might he have ridden the TZ in '79? You could be right Drewski !.. Its a cool little mystery

Its a cool little mystery I wish my memory was clearer regarding the years. I know I saw him on the TZ because it killed me that he jumped to Yamaha! I remember all the Euro riders there too, but that might have been earlier. Later, I saw Kenny Roberts, Yvon and Mike Baldwin there. Baldwin spanked the field in both races on a privateer TZ! He was riding "like a man possessed" that weekend. I'll have to dig through the old photo albums and see if we still have any photo's. Maybe that will jog the old 'grey matter'.

Well boys, I have the answers! Well, some of the answers. It really bugged me that I couldn't seem to be able to piece together the order of events in my mind last night. I knew I had seen a number of races back in the mid to late 70's, but they were all jumbled up in the ole memory banks. Then, I remembered I had taken a bunch of pics one weekend with my brother's (Seaglider) manual SLR camera and stuffed them in a photo album. "I wonder if we still have that album?" Mrs. Drewski has an extensive collection of albums from the days we dated until the present. Me... I'm not so organized. I checked the closet where the albums are stored and... voila! There it was! And even better, I kept a program from the weekend!! "Who keeps those things??" Well, I did! This one time anyway. Here we go... the answers are here:

Here's the line-up for the GP in '79: Not a Kawi on the grid! Pretty self explanatory, but there's more.

Oh ya, almost forgot. There's even a report on the previous years' race in '78 in the program. That was the epic weekend that Mike Baldwin had when he whuupped the Factory teams on his privateer TZ750.

BTW, you can't necessarily trust everything the writers say about the details of events, etc. The author of the article on Crussell's race machines, Ed Milich, got it wrong when he wrote that Duhamel rode the KR750 in '79. He was obviously on the TZ that year.

Any chance you could take a portrait shot of it with all the words. Thanks for posting. What about all those other pictures you found?

I'll get right on that article Jim! As far as the 'other pics', most are not very good quality or very interesting. I need a magnifying glass to see if I happened to get a long shot of RJ, #54! (aka. Kemp Archibald)

Thanks Drewski.
Ya Got a Love a story like that!
Baldwin the Privateer - "He had done it all and on his own." Winner Leader from start to finish in both heats. Fastest QUALIFIER. And a New Mosport Lap Record of 1:29:45
Those were the days.

And a New Mosport Lap Record of 1:29:45 Those were the days. Yup, it was a cool era for roadracing here in Ontario. I used to go every year for a number of years. The '78 race was so cool that I got some buddies together and we camped out in '79 for the whole weekend. I borrowed Don's (Seaglider) camera to try to get some decent pics, but a lot of them were pretty blurry! Ha! It was a fun time even though there weren't any Kawi Triples in the 'big race'. Lang did his thing in the Superbike race tho, so my 'Kawi Fix' was satisfied.
