Well guys, here's my new project. It's not a triple but it is a V-Twin, so I hope Curtis will be happy My plan is to turn it into a Cafe but to leave the motor pretty much stock, after all I realy don't think there is too much out there for Hi- Performance parts for this "Air Compressor" motor anyway, although there is a 650 Turbo model out there, Way over priced by sellers when they do come up for sale. It should be good for a few turned heads though and a "what the F**k is that" kinda thing. Let me know what ya think I do have all the fairings, side covers, saddle bags, top box, seats, dash , quick release mounts for the box and bags, all of which is for sale Maybe even get enough to recover the purchase price of the bike Tomorrow I'll start cutting up the frame, Woohoo

That's kind of my plan Curtis This project shouldn't take as long as my triple, I'm thinking not this comming, summer but the summer of 2016 at the latest since there will be only a rebuild done to the motor and the rest being remods of the frame and body. I think I should invest in a cutting wheel and grinding disc company with the amount of cutting and grinding I'm planning to do to the frame

That's where I got a few ideas from. I don't want to copy a finished bike part for part, I'm going to use about 4 of these bikes ideas and try to build 1 bike from them, This bike is an '82 GL500 with Pro Link swing arm and rear suspension set up. Only the front fender, modified of corse, will be used out of the body work, well may be the fender but nothing else that's for sure, NO LUGGAGE

Well starter motor does not turn moor over, could be brushes, but motor does turn over by hand smoothly, Can not perform a compression test or spark test but did perform a leak down test. Left cylinder has 7% leakage at 100psi and right cylinder has 5% leakage at 100psi, so motor appears to be in health shape. A tear down and rebuild with new gasket and seals will still be performed, but at least I know the motor itself, less tranny inspection, is in good shape internaly. Will also have to tear down motor to inspect brgs, but with the smooth action of turning the motor over by hand, all appears good at this point. Now on with the removal of the motor

Put a spacer on the damper rod, then stiffened the spring with a spacer and used a heavier weight fork oil so the fork will not bottom out

I made a spacer from a piece of steel tubing. I have seen spacers made from a hard pastic though, but I have access to the steel tubing and personaly think the steel is less likly to crack or wear, ie peen over at the ends, but realy there is no move movement here, the bottom of the spacer sits on the bottom of the inner tube and the top of the spacer is against the small spring on the damper rod so it's not like the spacer is in movement.Just a mental thing I guess.

One of the biggest complaints about the CX500 is its weight, so dumping a bunch will probably make it into something very fun to ride.
