Got my first coat of fiber glass on my seat. Now for a little reshaping and then a second layer will be applied.

Well, I got the seat "plug" removed from the rear tail section, got it trimmed up and now to bond it to the tail section using automotive panel cement. It will stick to plastic and fiber glass, where as the fiber glass will not bond to plastic.

What Curtis said. That polyester resin reeks, when Im doing stuff like that, I use epoxy finishing resin, still a little heady, but I can tolerate it. Plus the epoxy gives way more work time. All the seat, clock mount work on my project is with epoxy, glass, carbon fibre tow and 1/8" marine ply forming and sub assemblies, very strong and light weight. Nice work on this project by the way, keep it up, been a cool read so far.

Thanks Shilo, she usually doesn't complain, just burns more scented candles, lol. But this time, I'm doing the glassing at work. Just trying to be niceπ

My body work skills are not good enough to have wrapped the whole seat/tail section, lol, but I will be applying a layer on the under side after I finish the top side, for strength.

They get upset when you get epoxy over the vacuum cleaner and use up all the plastic garbage bags! LOL

Lol it adds some texture to the dining room table as well. Fibreglassing in the house isn't much worse than nail polish / remover that my daughter subjects me to.

Kind of like when we were kids and used table knives to change bicycle tires, all was fine until you bent a knife and got caught. Then when older as teenagers mom may have wondered why those same knives were tinted blue or carbon'd up. LOL After that we supposedly grew up, right guys? rt

That looks real good. Glassing and body work is bothersome, but you nailed it.
