Good luck with a dynojet kit... I have in my tool box a number 200 main from a dynojet kit and a 200 main from mikuni and you can visually see a difference.... But, to give you a starting point, the "old rule of thumb" is to take the size of your main, and add 15% to it (so a 200 would be a 230) and go up 2-3 sizes on your pilot, leave the needle alone. Then do some plug chops, your an E test centre, you still got the drum in the floor ? Strap the bike down and start rippin some gears.... Nope. Long gone. Wouldn't have been safe anyway. Don't you worry, I thought of doing that a looooong time ago. Thanks for the tips, we'll figure it out.

So, it's been a while since we've chatted. There's a chance we might get the 550 out to TMP on the 19th after all. The head has been sitting at Gord Bush's shop for the last 4 weeks waiting for valve guides. It looks like they're finally getting some and we should be seeing it back here soon. If so, we're gonna hone the cylinders, re-ring the pistons and basically have a 'new' engine to break-in at TMP. Many thanks to Curtis for help with the rings and gasket set.

Anytime bud ! How's the progress ? It's been almost a week I hate it when you get amped up and then it doesn't happen... I imagine it's like not finding a present with your name on it under the Christmas tree. Still waiting. Not holding my breath though.

Well, the "Bush" built head is done and ready to be picked up this week. Only about 6 weeks too late for the track day. Oh well. Hone the cylinders, install new rings, button it back together, get the carbs sorted, final fitting for the Kerker and we're ready for Spring!

Sorry to hear Ya, the old 'parts-on-backorder' story. Oh well. The good news is it should be good as new for the next romp at TMSP! Maybe I'll have a freshened up Mongrel as well! Choices, choices...

Well, we've finally made progress with the GPz/kz550. The Dyna-jet kit didn't 'do the job' (no surprise eh Curtis?!) so my man Mark convinced me to let him drill out the smallest main jets and give that a try. After playing with the needles we got it close! Mark drilled them out a tad more, reset the needles and she runs strong right past red line! I'm sure the neighbours will be glad we won't be blasting by their back door in 1st and 2nd gear looking for 8,000 rpm!! Bring on a track day! Still a few details to finish.
