The Gpz fairing will REALLY tie that bike together. Is that a tether switch? Thanks! Nope, not a tether.

Wow ! Sexy bike ! If it were me (because I like lane splitter bars) I would pick up shorter levers and cut that inch off the end of the bar to tuck your arms in a bit more I mean, if it will be comfortable to ride

So $225 for the schooling and $75 for membership, how much per race? Just sorting out the cost per season...

It would be cool and all to actually 'race', but I couldn't justify that AND the weekends I spend doing all the other 'bike related activities' I'm involved in. I'm content to have some fun 2 or 3 times a season at a track day. Might be kinda fun to jump to the "Vintage Fast" group some time though, eh Walms!

Thanks for all the encouragement guys! I must say, this has been a really fun Project! Even more fun than I initially expected! I have to give props to Rick Yates for all the work he did to get this beast rolling! He's a great guy to work with, and even if he thought I was 'nuts' asking him to do some of the things I wanted him to do, he didn't say so... to my face anyway!! Thanks Rick!! Many thanks to Dave Howarth for the paint job too!! As well, I have to give credit to 2 of my buddies back at Express Test, Mark and Tim. I'm sure they would've been diagnosed as A.D.D. or something like that when they were kids!! They have a very hard time sitting still when there's no work to do around the shop. So, when all the customers are taken care of, they often work on projects for themselves... or for me. Mark was a huge help when we were getting the Mongrel ready for the road a couple of years ago. We had a ton of fun working on it together and it turned out to be a very satisfying experience for both of us. I decided to turn Mark and Tim loose on the 550 after bringing it back from the last track day. With a some consultation with me, they have gone at it with great enthusiasm! Mark is a licenced auto mechanic with +25 years experience and he's a natural gear head. The only drawback is, Mark loves H-D's, but I try not to hold that against him! He's a natural and creative problem solver. Tim is eager to learn and we've all become good friends. Mark and Tim have been doing the bulk of the work since we got it back at the shop. I'm more the dreamer/planner here. Oh... and the "spender"!! This has gone a 'little' over the original budget, but we're all having fun, so... what the heck! So, there's a little more left for Team Express Test to do to get it ready for the next battle. I'll keep you informed as it happens.

Might be kinda fun to jump to the "Vintage Fast" group some time though, eh Walms! My personal goal is to get rid of the chicken strips! Actually, something else to consider... Formal racing pretty much puts you in the same league as a smoker as far as life insurance goes... Just throwing it out there! My dad is a retired agent and that was his first concern that I was violating my policy and if the worst actually happened, there maybe a legal battle that "trackday" is or not technically racing.
