Did you see Andy posted the dyna jet kit for your bike? Ya, I saw that post. It's interesting that Dyna markets a number of specific kits for specific years. The kit Andy listed is actually right inbetween my 2 engines. I have an '81 kz and an '85 GPz. Rick is my "GPz Performance Advisor", so I'll consult with him on this. Right now, we're focusing on the kz engine to see if it will suffice. The GPz is on the shelf for the time being.

Well, I should bring you a little further up to date regarding this little odyessy. I've been somewhat obsessed with finding a new pipe. There's a MAC on it, but reports say it's a decent noise maker but doesn't make any more power. What's the point in that?!? I spent some dollars on this: Nice find. A performance Kerker that looked to be a the real deal for a trackbike. However, it turns out the header was so rusted, there were holes in it. No good!! However, upon proof, the seller was very aggreable to a substantial refund. Not a total loss. Now we're zooming in on this: This is a Kerker Street pipe. The header is in great shape, however the mid-pipe is rusted out. So, we have a header and can but have to whip up a mid-pipe to make it work. Oh well. What could possibly go wrong with that plan?

Can you weld?
Invest in a TIG, try and stay away from the 3 in 1 jobbies, but seriously, once you get onto a TIG you won't ever mig again...
You could TIG that mid pipe back together and it will be a much better weld bead than a MiG

I think I'll find a shop to bend me up a new one. Now just to add even more intrigue, I believe we may have another candidate.

Well, I should update this project. Rick has been a busy guy. He's not just working on his A7. Sprockets, chain, tires, wheels, tune-up, Yosh pipe (thanks Raimo!), lots of fussing, a little fabricating and we're nearly there. Freshly painted tins, shocks and a slightly modified seat should be ready for Saturday. Then it's just foot pegs, controls and a few other details and we're ready for TMP on May 9th.

Ya, Dave Howarth did the deed on this one. He says he hates green. He hangs around with the wrong guys then!
