Sorry Dave, but that garage is just plain wrong!! Your nasty old Triple won't "survive" in that sterile environment! ;D Drew, Thanks for mentioning the strile environment. Makes me feel so much beter about my garage.

Be sure to have your machinist set the piston clearances at .002in and NOT what the box says (.003)! All cylinders have the same clearance too. I've got over 17,000kms on my H1 Wisecos and pistons are still reasonably quiet J Thanks lc, experience always trumps theory.

Reasonable in your opinion? They seem really well made.

Reasonable in your opinion? They seem really well made. Well they aren't exactly cheap but I would expect that price for quality work... I'd think a good investment for keeping the vibs to a minimum.

And if you are going to run that tight, you will need to break the pistons in for a few 100 miles.

Walms has better than 14,000 kms now on his bores. Leo runs even tighter on his H1 racers He considers .002 "completely safe" ;D I always let the engine warm up before pushing it regardless (helps I have to travel 1 km to get to a paved road). To have a quiet engine for MANY thousands of KMs WELL worth your above precautions! J

J in general, forged pistons should get a longer warm up with every start, loading them before full warm up is loading them during time of extra blowby before full expansion of piston.... consequences you don't have to do so, but I concur with it being best practice ;D

Spent the day raking leaves (and working a bit on the H1E). I am exhausted. Speaking of that, anyone want to pipe up with some opinions of what I should do for removing spent gases? I mean what should I do for chambers? I want it to be reliable (I am not doing any porting) but sound / look good.

I want it to be reliable (I am not doing any porting) How boring! ;D ;D ;D If you have access to, or are a good welder contact Walms for a pipe cone kit. If you would like a set of ready to install classic Denco chambers contact Jim...... J

I managed to get the engine in place without scratching the frame. Mr Tripp has had the cylinders for a week now. I will call today with little hope of hearing a 'come and get 'em'.
