Got a big headlight and bucket from Ontario Cycle Salvage today for cheap. Thinking about converting to HID xenon to see better at night in addition to LEDs for all the other lighting. Zambia, I like that idea, silver lettering on black raider's sword.

Well, I was hoping to fire up this thing and move on to tuning but am now embedded in electrical system snafus. Gotta check continuity on everything, AGAIN. I tested all the components before putting them on but it still no worky. Key on: No neutral light, bulb not burned out, all positions on ignition switch tested to be good Headlight switch doesn't turn on tail or headlight when switched. No signal lights, I did find the signal switch is now bad, wasn't before No brake light illumination from front or back brake switches. No instrumentation lights Key in park: Tail light only lights up. Kind of anti-climatic. F*ing hate this old cracked wimpy harness, may rip it all out and make a new one. Proly a bad common wire somewhere.

Ya, that sucks!! Last season I had a bad connection that surfaced after a soaking in the rain. After it dried out, it only cut out after it was warmed up! It took me awhile to find it, but it was a plug-in connection under the seat! I got stranded once before we solved the mystery! Good luck man!

I spent a couple hours on it until midnight, I filled up the oil tank, and then went to fill the tranny with oil. After starting to fill it, I remembered that the drain plug was out. ;D Only lost 2 drips before numb nuts here woke up and screwed it back in. At that point, I thought I better pack it in. zzzzzz I'm hoping I was just too tired to see an obvious problem with the wiring. We'll see.

There is a brown wire coming off the key switch. It should have 12v on it with the key on. That supplies power to all thinks not working.
If you suspect a broken wire you can clip a lead to the battery pos and attach a needle (or stick pin) at the other end. By probing that brown wire at various points throughout the cable with the needle you should be able to determine where the broken connection is.

Cheers Dale, I was checking the H2B wiring diagram from your site there, and how power is distributed in the ON position. You're right, the lighting comes off the brown wire or thru a component attached to the brown wire. Hopefully nothing too difficult to find.

We're running on 2, was running on 3, but then the right carb stopped getting fuel, sticky needle valve probably. Heading back out. It's got a nice growl to it, even on 2. ;D ;D ;D Very happy to get this rider running but it's too bad I haven't received my new chain link yet.

Scored some cheap rearsets this weekend, looks like they're going to go where the rear peg normally goes, feels good there. Some nice pipes in there someday.....
