Technically tho the total weight is just adding the 2 numbers. The only thing would be on the old scales maybe a piece of ply wood on top to help distribute the weight. From memory those wheels would drop the weight by 30 pounds alone so that's 320 compared to Roland's bike.

Ok let me try the plywood for short term comparison to validate the variance between with and without.
Again will still take to scales once roads are clear and bare so I don't get road salt all over the bike..

Guys the more I think about the plank and scale method the more we will continue to wonder about variables and incorrect readings.
I think the best approach is take it the local scales and have a pic of bike sitting on the scale and then have the employee at the scale print me out a copy of the weight of the bike with triangle stand.
Think this will be the only method to know for sure..

In Vrra you can lace any hub to aluminum rims to race in P2 middle Which is a production class for 400 Yamaha,500 Suzuki,kh 400 and such. With the wheels you have on now you would have to race in P3 light with bikes up to 82 with highly modified tz,cbx 550,cb550,430 rd's all of which are packing 60-70 hp. So you could still have some fun but not much chance of a win. Brad

Thanks Brad,
So what is the most HP anyone on the board has squeezed out of the 400 engine? Paul

Well I looked today my stock 400 weighed 377 at Paris on 2 bathroom scales.m stock weight according to Glenns manual is 376.. I work with load cells often and the weights are just added together between multiple load cells so should be no different for 2 bathroom scales that are accurate

Depends what you are going to use the bike for.If it's a straight track bike, with lots of work & money you can probably get 55/65 hp.Wouldn't be much fun to ride on the street though. The one I raced a few years back was about 55hp.Wish I had weigh it.It had astralite wheels,tz tank,& was very light. A fellow in the U.K. Posted a dyno of his 400 making 65 hp, it didn't appear too peaky either from what I remember. You could always drop a 500 engine in there if you need more than that!

Thanks for feedback.. Will look at all options and cost as I start the engine stage next year.
Has anyone had much success playing around with the flywheel "weight" and looking at slightly lighter options to change how the bikes spool up under power? Curious to see if this is even an option with the Kh engine based on others that tried.
