That is sweet. Have a purple 73 and this makes me want to have it painted "professionally" This winter. Looking forward to seeing it on the bike

When you check back in this thread and see the before pics from Feb. You would think there is no way they are the same parts. Great job!

The frame repairs and refinishing has been completed. Several months ago, I took the frame over to Keith and Duane's shop to have some welding repairs made. Duane fabricated a beauty steering damper bracket and also repaired a cracked weld at the top cross member. Recently I had RLD here in Ottawa complete the finishing (media blasting, prime and paint). I picked it up today. They did an amazing job and took great care to preserve the original VIN label. Very pleased! I have started the assembly of some of the frame components and steering tree Also, I assembled some of the rear tail components. The purple paint is awesome under fluorescent light.

Very nice indeed! Peter, they look to be automotive con rod bolt protectors. I used the North of #9 approach, 3/8” vinyl tubing from Crappy Tire

Are the cases painted or blasted? The cases have been vapour blasted and then washed with soap and water at least 3 or 4 times and blown dry to remove any beads left over.

Very nice indeed! Peter, they look to be automotive con rod bolt protectors. I used the North of #9 approach, 3/8” vinyl tubing from Crappy Tire I am pretty sure you nailed it Walms. They were given to me by the local automotive machinist I have been using. He helped me with the Z1 motor and on this one he bored the cylinders ( + 1mm over std). He also installed and aligned the cylinder mounting studs as two of them needed to be replaced (one cut and one was bent). They did a great job protecting the pistons and rings.
