Thanks Shiloh. I think I will remove the battery box and I should be able to push the air box back far enough to take the carbs off. Try and keep the air box boots attatched to the air box like mentioned. They will be very hard, and also brittle. I have had about a 15% chances of re using them when they have sat for that long. If, you are to attempt to re use them, I have found to place them in very hot water, and then remove them, dry them off and apply a small amount of an oil to the outside to help keep it a bit soft while reinstalling.

Hello Guys I am changing the bike back to the stock look and trying to get some handle bars that came with the bike. Anybody ever order any aftermarket bars that look close to the original ones. Thanks

It worked I removed the battery box, disconnected the air box and pushed it back enough to remove the carbs. Saved the boots!! There not in bad shape still a little soft. Time for a boil out. The carbs look fairly clean on the inside but stuck. Do you think I can get away boiling them with out taking them all apart.

Yes disassemble all the carbs carefully, layout the prts for ea carb as you disassemble, and clean everything. use lots of carb cleaner, well soaked, it should free up the parts. Just don`t force anything, or you`ll be looking for replacement prts

Might I suggest removing the bowls, and try to remove the slides. If the slides are stuck in the barrel, you can plunk the entire carb body into a vinegar/pinesol solution and warm up, do not bring to a boil.
Remove carb body, dose liberally with brake clean and attempt to remove slide again, if it will not budge, use some WD40 or even diesel fuel to soak, being very viscous will help it creep around the slide and barrel to help loosen it up.
Then remove everything, all the jets. Be careful of the pilot as the head can strip very easy.

Thanks If you want the cow horn type bars which force you into a sit up and beg riding position I might have a set tucked away somewhere. I installed low rise (1.5 inch) bars on my 400 which for me at 5' 10" offer the perfect riding position. SoupD.

You might want to lose the stock KH airbox it's responsible for robbing a couple of horses from the motor, the intake cross section is tiny. My advice is to fit the S3 airbox, it bolts straight in and only a purist will notice the difference. If you want more power go with uni pods, these little motors need all the help they can get.. triplescanada.proboards.com/thread/5418/kh-s3-airboxSoupD.

I may have a fresh set of intake boots in the basement if you need them.

The carbs are off had a little trouble with one of the starter cable assembly wires the starter plunger was seized. I had to spray it with carb cleaner and let it sit all night. Two of the carbs sliders were moving freely but one had a little vanish on the needle after a little spray I gently freed it up. I going to out source the carb cleaning am getting nerves and don't want to screw them up!! lol

They are really not that difficult... You will have more satisfaction in doing it yourself also.
