Since I knew we had a Wheatstone Bridge kicking around... I felt it prudent to check the actual resistance on the new winding. Confirmed to be .466 Ohms (A-C, B-A, C-B) phase to phase, too bad I didn't check the original winding but going forward I'll be sure to do so.

I see .5-.6 ohms phase to phase (yellow to Yellow) on a junk spare here. This matches the readings of the windings on the in service alt too. Either both of mine have windings internally shorted on all three phases or one of us has got the decimal place wrong?

J Thanks Scott, not enough coffee this morning What it tells me is that all my coils are equal turns and length (even though I wound them all by hand you never know until you actually test them for confirmation)... be nice when it's done and see what kind of output Dave gets.

If your still looking for others to test, I'll send you mine. Send me a PM with price or are you still considering $200.00 to $250.00 range? Either way, still too good of a deal to pass up

Either way, still too good of a deal to pass up Never really about the money... Just want to give a little back for all the help I've received. As I stated before this will never be a real side job for me so as long as no one is in a hurry to get it back then sure ship it to me. Price is $200.00 + flat rate of $25.00 for return Canada Post shipping (joys of living in the middle of nowhere ). As it is right now still biking, boating, and camping so spare time is more or less accounted for but once the snow flies then I'll have some time. Finally, if there's breakdown work in the shop then you know Ari is going for the OT

Finally got a bit of spare time and got the stator finished and as with everything else the next one will be done a little differently but at least it's done Before: After: I replaced what hardware I could with 316 SS and Dave you should be good to go I'll get it shipped out to you on Tuesday. The next one will thankfully be easier... and more compact as this one wasn't a lot of fun at the end

Wow, Ari. Looks great!! I guess I really should leave the cover off and show that sucker off. Glad you like it Dave and it's definitely one of kind Had I not been in a hurry I was going to powdercoat the stator housing and the plate but that will be for Beta repairs and future rebuilds hehehe. If you're not in a hurry I'd like to put an engraved nameplate on it once I get this Windows 95 Chinese USB driver to install right for the new engraving machine... I just haven't had the time to Fukc with it, regardless let me know. While it's on my mind I would ask anyone that has scrap stators if they could just send me the whole brush holder assembly or even the whole plate if you like. I'm just looking for as wide a sampling of brushes that I can to provide to Carbon Brush to make me a bunch of OEM quality or better brushes for future rebuilds. Plenty of other small process improvements are already on the list for Beta rebuilds. Here's hoping Dave's works

Just for my future reference for Beta builds:
1. Include pictures of burnt but not stripped stator. 2. Include total weight of raw (burnt) copper used in the winding. 3. Use Wheatstone Bridge on brush samples to verify baseline resistance values to compare against new ones made. 4. Include filler wedges for tighter (smaller finished size) coils. 5. Record and document formal winding data sheet. 6. Record all hardware and materials used.

Take all the time you need Ari. peacock is running like a finely tuned clock. The headlight has been on all summer with nary a whisper of dead battery. Of course, as soon as I say that........

Take all the time you need Ari. peacock is running like a finely tuned clock. The headlight has been on all summer with nary a whisper of dead battery. Of course, as soon as I say that........ Sweet, as I finally found where my 220 volt supply for the oven was jacked to I'm also going to powder coat the brush plate as well. Give me 3 colour choices and I'll see if I have that one or something close. I have some Kawasaki green but I haven't tried it yet and as I'm typing this... fukc it green it is first and if looks like shit I can always strip it and shoot it again I'll also throw in free powder coating of the stator housing and brush plate in any future rebuilds. If you're horny about a particular colour then just go here: www.powder365.ca and choose your colour and whatever it costs per pound just round up to nearest 10 dollar increment. All translucent and candy powders require a base of chrome powder (unless the base you're shooting is polished or chromed already) which I stock all the time and just more time involved, no extra charge would be incurred. Nothing extra would be charged for any powder in stock of course. I'll post a pic of the green tomorrow and I know you probably won't see until you get back from Tweed

Ok, so I was going to get fancy and shit but it looks like my gun is pretty much toast so I couldn't get a base of Chrome on for the Copper dormant below... oh well at least it won't rust Also, finally got that POS Chinese software to work with the engraver so I just have to wait for the blank nameplates I ordered to come in and then I'll ship it, Dave.
