It's worth a shot. The more I think about it, the more I will be going milder than I first wanted to on my G3. It was a long time ago, but I bought a new G31M cylinder and piston for my G5 from the dealer. I cut the stock rotary valve and slipped the cylinder on with the stock head and A Wirges or Hooker pipe. Even with the stock carb it was a bit uncontrollable, when it "hit" all hell would break loose, along with the rear knobby!....lol. Which was kind of fun in the dirt for a young kid, but now with what I want is a fun fast cafe racer, I don't think it's such a good idea. I know I wasn't making close to the 18HP of the G31M, and it was still very fast. I'm thinking a modern 125 would be pretty hard to control on the street, especially coming out of corners, but hey, it never hurts to try, at least we hope it doesn't hurt......lol. You know John, I took the stock G3 for a spin home from the shop last night. It's pretty tame off idle, but when it get's boiling, the hit is pretty impressive for a stock 100 single!! It wanted to rev like crazy! I wish there was a tach on it. I figure a little mild porting, a slightly bigger carb and a "Walms Too Fat" pipe and this will be a real giggle machine! I still think a 30 horse kx125 in it would be a hoot! It might hurt though.

Oh ya. It definitely needs brakes!! I'm pretty sure my mountain bike has better brakes. The "CBR Conversion" is a MUST!!

I think a few more ponies with be a fun bike, that won't overpower the frame and tires. YES, definitely a front brake upgrade!

It would be cool to get some modern 17" "CBR appropriate" rubber under it. Then brace the frame... and so on, and so on...

It might be more of a "point and shoot" machine. Who da thought we could have a 125 that wouldn't be safe out of the corners. Maybe way taller gearing would help? Nah. It would just make the hit happen at a faster speed. That would hurt MORE!

I got those 3.75 x 18 tires. 17" are too far off the beaten path for my tastes

I got those 3.75 x 18 tires. 17" are too far off the beaten path for my tastes I'm doing my best to "beat down" a clear path J.A.! However, "You can lead a Moo to water, but... " You know how that goes. Yours is the clearer and best known path to be sure! I DO get that! I can't wait to see more of your single!

Beaten pathways are good but some of us are suckers for breaking trail!

It's 10 times as impressive to haul ass and pass guys on skinny tires. Fat tires are a yawn..... that's just me..... Yup, that's you all right!

I know in some sense it's completely ridiculous, but I'm having an absolute gas riding the G3!! The Mongrel is in pieces at the moment, but I have a perfectly good custom KZ1000 that I love, sitting at the shop... I know some will say, "it's only a faze, I'll grow out of it"... or... "it's the newest bike in the stable so it's the most interesting at the moment"... I don't know. There's something that's totally fun to be riding the tiniest thing on the road and to be able to keep up with, or even pass most everyone else. There's also something about being able to wind a 2 stroke all the way through the power band (and beyond) in 4 or 5 gears and NOT attract the authorities!! It's fun!!

2nd thoughts on the cannibalization??? No no... not really. One thing is for certain. The brakes are HORRIBLE!! I don't know how people survived on these things back in the day!! Don't tell Mrs.Drewski, but I've come ridiculously close to piling into the back of a number of cars since riding this. I can't wait to have real brakes. And you know how it goes from there. One thing leads to another... We'll have "Pocket Rocket I" on the road in the Spring of 2014!!
