Just wondering if anyone knows of a replacement casing for wiring harnesses. My harnesses are good except the outer casing is brittle and cracking. I don't really want to use bulk convoluted tubing.(conduit). I see some reproduction harnesses, but not for a H1B. Thanks

There is black heat shrink tubing (used in electronics etc.) available in many diameters. I suspect you will need someting in the .75in range. An electric heat gun works well to shrink the stuff down. The catch will be to find a piece the length you want without having to buy a 100' roll! Try a search on the 'net for a possible supplier.. EDIT. You're in luck!! (First place I looked): www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/heatshrink.phpJ

Thanks LC. Thought about that. The original stuff almost looks to be a shrink tubing in a gloss fininish a a little thicker wall thickness.

J Go to just about any Electrical distributor near by. Gerrie, Nedco.Westburne, Guillevin, Wesco etc. We sell it in a variety of diamiters and in 4ft lengths also clear, white or black. Rob

Great stuff, but no longer ship to Canada...I'm sure our American friends would pack and re-send for us!

LOL I sent my harness from my H1D to Brian Hilvetty and he rebuilt it for a reasonable charge. The shrink wrap tubes you buy, even from Vintage connections, are always a flat black and not glossy like original equipment was. Anything that shrinks like it does, losses any finish when changing/shrinking. Thats why it can not be bought with the shiny finish.

You are correct, the original harnesses were not shrink..I've used the Vintage Connections sleeving and it is very nice. It's pretty cheap too.

Even the ones Vintage Connections sells wil be flat black when shrunken down with a heat gun. I got some for another vehicle at Harbo ur Freight. 5 rolls all different sizes for around 6 bucks. 6ft rolls of each size. I don't think you can beat Brians deal for refurbishing your old one. New bullet connectors and covers etc...

You're right, but the Vintage ones are not meant to shrink (in fact they don't). They end up snug but loose like the originals...so you remove the connectors and drag the wires through - then put the connectors back on.

for those who are thinking of buying a connector kit: i bought one from them last summer... the only bad part is all the terminal ends are either 10 to 12 ga and our wires are 14 to 16 ga i believe. so what i did to makethings work is use a very shore piece of 1/8" shrink tube about 1/4" long and shrunk it to the wire just below the stripped part on the insulation to give the terminal crimp a good bite. also i strip back enough and make a "pigtail" loop to double the stripped part of wire for the other part of the terminal crimp to take a good bite as well.
i tried to find the proper sized terminal (bullet, spade, loop, etc...) on-line but came up with nothing.

If you don't care about appearance the CTC bullet connectors will mate with the stock Kaw's......
