Yes, what Curtis says with heat plus the shaft fit will lessen the clearance as well. Plus ball bearings really only work in pairs, with only 1 bearing, they really do appear to be loose. Buy name brand bearings from a known good source and you should be fine. I believe the shop manual "should" tell you what the permissible axial play is when the shaft is assembled. Radial play should be there as well but a little more difficult to measure, I'm guessing 3-6 microns would be a guess? Lookup ball bearing clearances on the net, both INA and SKF have tons of info available on their website.

KML is a Chinese bearing Would not be my choice for a crank bearing

For how much 6005's cost, no question! Maybe Dave will chime in on his experience with Chinese crank bearings... He had a bad vibration after a crank rebuild only to find out one of the bearings had a .006" runout... it almost seems impossible that something like that could be sold!

I would cut the losses and buy a new good set of 6005 bearings - SKF / Timken / FAG - something along those lines for a crank rebuild Or go full out with ceramic bearings with custom made LAB seals

I think it was you who later told me to never cheap out on bearings and condoms. Words to live by.

Hi guys Just wanna confirm the kick starter spring guide installs with the flat edge to the case and cone edge into the spring. My manual shows it this way but have located pics on the net that show the opposite. Thanks
