There is no way to know 100% for sure...but up until recently you couldn't really get much other than OEM in terms of 400 pistons, so I would be pretty sure that's what you have.

Ok......the engine is just about stripped.(thank God for impact drivers and easy outs....) I have flipped it over and removed all the case nuts and washers. I have sprayed the heck out of all the studs with penetrating oil. I have been hitting the case with a rubber mallet and can’t seem to get those cases to split. Anyone have a trick they are willing to share for getting the cases apart. Thanks

Probably still a screw somewhere. I can't remember where the hard to notice one is offhand though.

As I recall, there is a "tube" across the bottom of tho motor. The rubber engine mount goes into it - there are a couple of small case nuts under this thing.

Look up the diagram at Partzilla or another site and count the fasteners compared to what you have removed so far. If you need a diagram, let me know.

I got the 2 nuts under the rubber engine mounts. I have removed 21 nuts total from the case. I will keep spraying the penetrating oil and fingers crossed it will let go. Thinking of suspending the engine upside down from the ceiling just over my work bench. Maybe use the weight of the crank etc to work it loose.

Thanks for the link......I have been using that resto every step of the way. Great resource! It also confirms 21 nuts removed from the cases.. Will keep at it and hope this baby finally gets on board!!!! Lol

Where am I supposed to hit the engine.....on the sides? Top? Bottom? Probably sounds like a stupid question but I am trying just about everything.
Thx

Couldn't you turn a few nuts on until they are flush with the top of the studs and give them a wrap with a soft face hammer? I would think the shock would loosen her up.
