I have to buy tires locally. he charges $50 a tire for ones he didn't sell me. needless to say, I hate changing tires so, it's local for me. Plus, the owner's wife is a babe and I like going in and talking to them, I mean her.

I picked up a sweet set of spoons for less than $50 I spent my teenage years changing dirt bike tires with huge bead's and crappy (short) tire irons. In comparison, changing a tire on a triple is a snap.

Have you tried the zip tie method Walms? I literally only had to push the tire on the rim with my knee after applying plenty of 50/50 dish soap and water. No prying no grunting and puffing. Although taking the old tire off I had to use some PVC tubing that I slit down the middle on one side and placed it over the rim to protect it or you can use a bit of cardboard to protect the rim. But a pack of zip ties at princess auto is $9.99 so that is a extra wasted expense unless you use the old zip ties for repairing plastics. Oh I forgot triples don't have any plastics. browney out

I was going to ask you about that method. Maybe I'll give it a try for mounting my next rear tire, which will be soon!

I've seen that video before... Pretty cool!
I'm still intrigued by how the nylon tie wrap would act as a nice slider though, plus just clip and pull to release them. I think I'd try that one first.

I've bought several pairs of tires for the FZ1 from Petes. Been dealing with him when he first started from recommendations from my VRRA buds. I'm always amazed when I get the tires at the door a couple days later after I order them. Also bought chains and sprockets. Always been happy with the prices and service. He is an honest hard working guy who has built a great business for himself.
The zip tie and plastic bag trick looks great. Last time I installed a tire I stomped the bead in with the heels of my Kodiak work boots. What do you guys do for balancing when you self install the tire?

I haven't balanced a tire since I've started mounting them myself. No real ill effects either... So far!

With my old 400 and the Z1 and the old RT I went to Raimo's buddy Rosie Toes. He charged me $20 or $25 a tire cash, installed and balanced.
Sorry, not much help to non GTA riders

Hi Raimo For balancing the tubeless Petes sells the beads that you pour into the valve stem and run the tire on the center stand. But for the tires with tubes in them. You have to think like Trudeau regarding the Canadian budget. They will balance themselves. LOL With my old 400 and the Z1 and the old RT I went to Raimo's buddy Rosie Toes. Takes no BS and Does it Like Frank Sinatra says "And I did it my Way" I will have to go and give him a shout when I need a local mechanic. I heard he's been around for ages. browney out
