Ripped up and down the roads today with the little J1
Now I need to go to rotary valve school because something F'ed up
Unloaded from pickup, started 2nd kick, with choke, released choke upon fire up and warmed up with throttle.
Pop into first gear, take off and cruise around 15mph all was fine, then started opening it up more, running good, little bastard hit 45 mph and still had more to go ! But backed it down (smokin like a fiend because I am mixed at 20:1 for break in) back down for a "load up" little run and a few more clean out braaaps.
Got the engine nice and warm, shut it down, went and did some work on dads quad, Went back out after an hour, two kicks and away it goes. Got halfway out the driveway and it backfired, then revved to the moon, shut it down and shoved into the shop, no apparent air leak anywhere, throttle slide is down and not hung up, however try and kick it now and will not start, kicks back a lot like timing has jumped.
My book is not here but I seem to think the rotary valve is keyed onto the shaft and not spline fit?
Anyone else run into this with the rotaries ?

Curtis, I have a J1T with a cracked handlebar. I've been unable to find a replacement. Would you sell the one you pulled from this bike?
