Has is tested ok? I used to run RC car motors in isopropyl alcohol to clean them up. That said, it's not a visual part. I'd do what it takes to make sure the wire insulation is intact and no breaks in the conductors. This is an area where too much involvement can create headaches. Ask me how I know.

Any suggestions on how to clean up the windings? EVAPO-RUST from Canadian Tire works great for cleaning sensitive rusted parts. Its water based so it washed off easy. I used it in my early iggy system to clean all the rusty crud off. It converts the rust and leaves the metals alone. Before: After

Best done while still in the cases Dave. +1 If you intend on rebuilding the crank, I'd leave it for the rebuilder to worry about. I did this with my latest H1 crank for NH cycle. The special rotor puller I had (H1D rotor, pretty much the same as H2, save signal generator pin location) couldn't do the job, could feel that threads were going to give if I pushed it. Long story short, the pullers work most times, but not always.

Well, it came off with a home made puller (a bolt and a section of rod) and a hammer to shock it free.

Top case prior to blasting. Should I drill the oil passages now to allow for carb mods in the future?

Are you going let one sit in a pool of gas afterwards?
