Enough about the Cretaceous - back to work! Used Donnie's petcock testing routine only to discover a leaking petcock. I thought I had this all taken care of when I replaced all the rubber bits and lined the leaking bowl with a bit of leftover Caswell tank liner. But no, it was leaking at the lever. I knew there'd been some corosion to the innards so I'm assuming this is the root of the problem. I thought I'd try building up the damaged ring with a bit of JBWeld. I used a toasted 4-hole gasket and oiled up one of the holes hoping this would contain the epoxy and keep it from sticking. I let the JB set up for a bit first before using the tip of a needle to carefully apply as needed. This is kinda what I ended up with and petcock is back together with no leaks. Hope the JBWeld survives the gas bath.

... I sure hope so. Well, it's pretty much done. A few minor details to finish up like bulbs for front signals, install pods, replace the float valves with the correct 2.5s, apply the Denco decals, etc. Finished up the wiring and weather stripping on the fairing and got it, the pipes, bodywork, etc. bolted on last night. And of course, no photo shoot of a triple would be complete without: I've grown to appreciate this bike more and more as it got cleaner and cleaner and I added a few of my own cosmetic mods. Love it or hate it, I've decided to stay with the retro paint for the time being. Next step is to light 'er up ;D Cheers, Neil

Your usual top shelf work! Hate to see you scrape the RH pipe in a corner . Have a look at this: kawtriple.com/mraxl/dencomount.jpg(The addition of the extra 6mm bolt should allow the pipes to be brought in towards the center of the bike) J

Thanks, guys.
Yeah, Scott, I thought that right pipe was hanging out there a ways but I don't think the hanger brackets are quite like what's shown in that diagram.
I'll take a closer look tonight but I'm thinking they're on there the only way they'll fit.

Got her fired up yesterday - petcock is still leaking on prime and On (but not on reserve so that's where it's staying for now). Took a few kicks till I flooded it then fired right up with wide open throttle. A bit of minor tweaking of idle screws and it was ready to ride. Ran over and picked up 5-day temporary insurance so I can get it in for a safety inspection Mon-Tues, then insurance and it's officially On The Road ;D. Here's a crappy video with my pocket camera. Hold the phone - can't seem to upload this 69MB video clip to photobucket. It goes like gangbusters until about 30% is done then the upload speed gradually slows to zero . Stops the same place each time I try. As an added bonus, we got my youngest son's GT500 up and running today. We were getting so frustrated with what was obviously a carb problem - we'd been through them a number of times never really finding anything to change or alter. Finally, went to the Suzuki 2-stroke forum for some help and it turns out some PO must have mixed up the throttle slides between left and right carbs. The slides fit either carb but the cutaway faces forward when in the wrong side - this is how we got the bike and had just been leaving them where they were. DOH! So, a very productive weekend. Talk to you boys later, I gotta go for a ride... Cheers, Neil

The ole slide in reverse scenario... I was there when Roland had the same issues. We were lucky that they were my carbs so I knew it had to be something obvious though. Real tough if you don't have the background of what you are working on...

OK, here's the vid: What's the correct way to post videos where they play right here, on the forum?? The above image link from photobucket (same as I use for posting pics) seems to open a new window, goes to photobucket and plays it there. Thanks. Neil
