I buy stuff from John all the time but when it came to the rods for the D I went for the slotted Vesrah ones from Andre as I wanted better lubrication.
I'm sure that Don will make your crank dance though as he always does ;D ;D

Check out the wirges carefully, they have a non-removal baffle section that can get easily plugged, causing no end to tuning ills, and/or engine meltdown. I have a set of H2 wirges suffering from this affliction. I'm thinking if I want to save them I'll need a 2' drill bit to hog it out. Just take a long rod and run it down the baffle tube, you will hit a blocking plate. Beat on it and it will break loose. If the rod goes all the way into the body of the chamber, then they have already been removed. And don't expect a lot of performance from the Wirges, they actually make less hp that stock pipes, but they sound better......

One of the parts I need and have been unable to find even on ebay is a straight headlight rim. Today I went out to a local bike bone yard called Recycle, that is near here. If you talk to the right guy there he will let you wander around in their yard that has hundreds of old bikes in it. I went to the Kawasaki section with my old headlight in hand and found one in almost perfect shape on a 1980 Z250 LTD. From the parts catalog at cmsnl.com I found that the 80 and 81 Z250 use the same part # headlamp sealed beam and rim as the H1D. So for 15 bucks I got a really good headlight! Cool! ;D I guess I won't be riding too much at night with a 25/35 watt headlight!

Last bike cost me $90 just to get the frame sandblasted and about $50 for primer and paint. I'm going to make the rounds of the powdercoaters and see what kind of deal I can get. I took all the engine covers to 2 different places for quotes on ceramic coating them. The first place quoted me $280 and the second place $140. They seem to pull the prices out of a hat or something.

Engine covers can be powder coated. I know you got a lot of powder coating done on your project Bake, so maybe you can help with price shopping . I'm looking for a durable polished aluminum look for the engine covers that doesn't need to be constantly maintained like bare polished aluminum. That's why I chose ceramic coating for the 5 covers, clutch, oil pump, mag support, mag cover and chain cover. I thought $140 for that was reasonable. The same guy wants $300 to blast and powder coat the frame and swing arm. How do those prices sound to you?

Johnny I personally wouldn't use anti-seize on your case studs. It will change your torque. I know with cylinder studs you use red loctite.

I do my own powder, there is a powder chrome that is just like polished aluminum... I did some parts on a friends Camero and it came out ok.
$20 to $30 per piece should blast coat them the covers, if you are not in a rush you could send them to me and I will do it way cheap.... especially if you can glass blast them to perfection. ;D
My oven is not big enough for a frame so it got sent out with a friends swingarm and I paid $250 for them. Your coater sounds like he is in the ball park and if it's his full time business he will probably produce good results.
Go over the holes you don't want powder in with him and also have him tape off the VIN#, you can touch up this area with regular paint when you get it back.
