hey Bake, I got a sweet rear fender that would probably cover that meaty wheel better, it's from a 72 Kawasaki Big horn, steel too, and a bighorn Toolbox that would look great on a custom. The extra length will help stabil up the "Crap Handling" the B's have. Also I think the steering geometry is too tight, the first corner you make on a B gets your attention quickly as it felt like I was going to fall on my face. Not an issue anymore as I am so used to the old girl's little idiosyncrasies. Cool project but, once you ride the B, the HD will be pushed into a corner.

Lucky for me thats my wifes HD ;D and yes I have herded it around a few corners, you talk about a bike that doesn't want to handle! BUT.... she loves it and that is all that counts, besides it's easy to maintain and will do tour duty. I am actually building the B hoping she will ride it (when I am not abusing it) I like the idea of a wider fender.

More mockups, if you know a good way to establish a datum line so I can line up the rear wheel perfectly step up to the soap box. From crude measurements the back wheel looks offset 1" to the left of swingarm center which puts the sprockets off by that same 1"

Thought I would sink a few more hrs into trying t get the swingarm to fit so I made a centerline and a jig to hold the frame straight and level and put this tool together for finding center, you unscrew this until it contacts boths sides pull it out and find center then transfer center line add plumb bobs but in the end although I got the swingarm straight the is some big issues with sprocket alignment and chain space

Ya. Chain clearance. What a pain!! I know with my KayZed, I used a 5/8" offset countershaft sprocket and it JUST cleared the inside of the frame! ;D I'm using a ZX6R rear wheel with a 180 Pirelli. It fits, but just barely! With my H2, we just shimmed the countershaft sprocket and that allowed us to use the 3.5" Sun rim with the 130 Pirelli. I know you can get WAY bigger offset sprockets, but you need to support the end of it with a bearing, carrier, etc.... Jackshafts and double chain setups... can't wait to see how you do it!! Talk to those dragracer dudes! They'll know what to do!

Where did you find a 5/8" offset sprocket for the H1? That would sure help solve half the problem. Kawboy....I could use 1 outside head if you want to sell it, one of mine has a bent and cracked cooling fin and I am not sure if it will stand up to being bent back, besides the weld will probably always show. No headbolts? Anybody? Lastly can someone explain (real slow) how to edit a post.... I tried the modify button then it says hit Alt s to send... but it won't, there is no resend button.... what gives. test modify... geez that was easy

My source is: www.pmfronline.comPrecision Metal Fab Racing. You'll love 'em! I ordered my sprocket and had it in my hand in less than 1 week! ;D

Thanks for trying and the warning

Surely Gary and the dragracing crew can give you some advice here. There must be a "simple" way to get the chain past those big slicks!! ;D
