Good Day:
I am in the process of restoring a 1977 KH400.
The bike was a runner when it was garage parked in 1995.
I have opened the engine and it looks like the crankshaft needs a rebuild(rusted berings).
Does anyone know of a place that can do this for me in the Niagara region?
Thanks

Closest is likely New Hamburg Cycle.

Off to see Jeff on Saturday.
I am thinking of ordering a piston kit from Diablo Cycle.
Has anyone used pistons from them? If so, with good or bad results.
Thanks for your input.

Both Wossner and Wiseco are very good. Personally, I like Wossner. According to my machinist , they are the best.
I should read the whole post , or think before answering. These are for 500 and 750.
400 pistons are harder to find. If you need more than the 0.5 mm that Diablo have, IMD in England make bigger sets. I got theirs for my Suzuki triple. Good product.

I ordered the 0.5 over set from Diablo.
Should be here by Monday.
Can anyone recommend a shop to get my cylinder bores done?
Hopefully, somewhat close to the Niagara Region.
Thanks for any suggestions.

If you're heading to New Hamburg, you may as well keep going to Halton Hills with your cylinders and drop them at Twin Seasons. Then have Diablo ship the pistons there. They have bored my H2 and my TZR - great work and they understand 2 strokes. Talk to Denny - www.tsrltd.com/

The pistons should here tomorrow.
Thanks for the tip on Twin Seasons.
It really helps when folks can go to a place like Triples Canada, and get real advice from knowledgeable people.
It would be nice if I can find a place closer to home, but if I have to travel a distance to get the job done right, then so be it.
This is my first triple restore. I really want to get it done right.

While I am waiting for the crank work to be done, I got started on the front end. Cleaning up the fork tubes and installing new seals. Hopefully, there is a picture below showing the before and after of the fork tubes.

Nice work on the forks. Did you polish with a wheel or sanding belt?

I used a bit of both.
I started with 240 sandpaper and gradually progressed up to some very fine wet-dry emery cloth.
Then I took it to my bench grinder with soft cloth wheels and used Mothers Mag and Aluminum polish.
There is still some to do on them but you have to decide when enough is enough, or you can be polishing them forever.
I'm currently working on rebuilding the front brake caliper and master cylinder.

Work continues on the 400 restore project.
The seat has been recovered and my crank and cylinders have been done by Jeff at NH Cycle.
I tried to post a picture of the seat with obviously no success.
How about this one??

Thanks for the offer. It's always nice to have more resources when undertaking a rebuild like this.
I was riding my grey Suzuki Vstrom on Canboro Road in Fonthill a few days ago and was passed by someone on a triple.
Was that you?
I have the crank and cylinders back from Jeff at NH Cycle and I am starting the engine reassembly.
What did you use for the crankcase sealing? Did you go with Locktite 603 for the bearings?
Thanks again for your offer of assistance.
Kevin
