I had some friends over to help me lift down the engine from the bench last night. One lifted and the other 2 watched. It cost me almost a full bottle of scotch but, it was down. After crawling around, lifting, pulling . and cursing, the engine is in. 2 of 3 mounts didn't match up exactly so I needed a bigger hammer but, it's in now. I am also convinced that I am gwtting too old to be doing this. My back barely even hurts now.... Oh yeah, Happy New Year.....

Thanks Perry. My pain and misfortune is for the good of the Board. I guess.
Good to hear from you. It's been a while.

Well, I'm no pipewelder but more of a hackwrecker but this bike is suddenly close to completion. Definitely won.t be a show bike but it does have some cool patina. I have timed it today and put on some little signal lites. I am waiting for a clutch hydraulic line to install the Ned's hydraulic clutch. I have dual front EX caliper brakes and the KZ rear disc.
I ordered a battery yesterday to start making sure my wiring of lites and horn actually works. I have to afix the rear brake light switch somehow and make sure the KZ rear wheel actually aligns with the front sprocket but it does look close. Of course, you know what they say about how close only applies to hand grenades etc....
We'll soon see.

Ok. Calling all you electrical gurus and magicians. I can't get spark at all. H2B engine and electrics.
Tried replacing one at a time. Regulator, stator, rectifier in the iggy box, generator rotor, and kill switch. Disconnected the black and white wire to the boxes from the main switch to eleminate that as the problem. Coils are grounded well. wiring looks good. Battery is connected and, yes, I realze it is a magneto. Main grounds are good because I have lights and horn working off the same main grounds. Everything seems to test out ok with the ohmeter.
Any ideas ?? Fire needed.

The low speed coil is in the stator assembly. I had another complete assenbly and tried it too with no results.
Thanks . I will test them both .

Low speed coil seems ok. Ohmeter reads 197 between white and green leads. I had already checked this but this confirms it.
Next check will be grounds inside cdi unit.

Make sure engine has good ground to frame. Check rotor/pickup air gap. Check pickup connector for corrosion. Check for crossed wires.

I always run a main ground wire to the engine and then up to the frame at the ignition box. Ground is good. Air gap is 0.025.
Pick up connections are clean with no corrosion. As far as I can see, there are no crossed wires.
I did the test light test on the rectifier and it checked out. I am sure that it is something stupid but I can't find it.I may have to call in the troops with known good components and replace one at a time.

Look at the output of cdi at spark coil while kicking over.... ac volts. If nothing then cdi is at fault as long as lo spd coil is ok.
