Tough call Dave. My guess would be the pits would give more space for the loctite to squeeze into, just use that slow cure stuff... 620 from memory. You could try torquing the cases together and measure the bores or have a bearing to test fit. Check it in every journal and compare the fit on each.

I got the crankshaft today from Jeff at NH Cycle in Collingwood where he has a place. Saves tons of mileage for me. Of course, there was a big snowstorm like almost every time I go to meet him, Andy is getting another case set from a friend , hopefully this week. Waiting on the cylinders from the local machine shop. Then, ready to get at this. I have the back disc brake set up together and still have to get a bracket for the brake steady done.

It was a good thing that I needed new cases. I hadn't noticed that there were no lock washers on the shift drum pins. Could have been a recipe for great disaster. I should have figured because everything and every component on this engine was disassembled, oil pump all electrics etc so it should have made sense that the shift drum was apart too. Cases are together. Cylinders today. Swingarm is at the garage being welded for the disc brake steady bracket. Pitter patter.....

You’re getting too much accomplished Dave. Slow down, you’re retired (and it makes me look real lazy.)

It seems that the KZ back wheel and disc brake are done. Thanks again to my Friend Tom at the local garage, Pauze's Garage. He takes the time to help with the design and welding. Bracket mount for the master cylinder. The post for the brake pedal had been cut off so we took a thick bolt and ran it through the enlarged holeand welded it in place. Had to put the bolt in a lathe and turn it down a touch using a file. Then a mount for the brake steady made from a hunk of angle iron. Cut up welded then heated and banged to conform to the round swingarm and welded again. Creation complete. A little crooked but it seems to function correctly. Just have to find a place to mount the reservoir. Then cross my fingers and hope the whole thing actually does work in real life. Waiting for a sprocket to mount the rear wheel. The KZ was only 32 teeth. I figured, wrongly, that all H hubs were the same and ordered an H2 47 tooth sprocket. I had lined up the holes on the KZ one with an old H1 hub I had and they were the same. Guess what ? The sprockets are not the same. Z needed a sprocket so at least I was able to cover that mistake. So, since the KZ sprocket fit on my H1 hub , I ordered a 47 tooth H1 sprocket. Again, guess what ? The centre hole is maybe 2 mm too small on the H1 sprocket. THe machine shop who did my cylinders is boring the hole a little bigger. Who says this custom stuff is easy??

I have a kz1000 disc/spoke rear wheel with a zx636 (forget the year) 520 sprocket on it. I believe a banshee/rz350 front 520 sprocket will fit the h2 output shaft. Then you could run a 520 chain. Just an idea.

Thanks David. I have already done the mods to the H1 sprocket. The main problem was finding a 47 tooth sprocket. The KZ being a 4 stroke had much smaller rear sprockets. Anyway, if the machine shop ever calls to say they have finished, I'll be in business.

I got the modded sprocket back yesterday and installed it. The back wheel is back on. Now installing a second front disc and 2 ex-caslipers. Waiting for a thrust washer for the clutch but the left side rotor and stator on on. When the engine is in the frame , I will see if the sprockets are aligned.

Nice project! Are you sticking with those old shocks? Or ordering Hagons? Remember .. our bones are like uncooked spaghetti

Hagons when my ship comes in Ian.....
The mounts have been moved so the shocks lay down a bit more. I will have to find the right size...
