Thanks Steve. I have posted the parts I am looking for on his thread. I would throw a post in the parts wanted section of both forums on this side of the line Bud... A lot of folks will see it at KTOG and a few at K2S.

Thought I would post an update on this project. The main progress points are below and some pictures: - I now have the parts I need to repair the transmission. Thanks go to Curtis, Ben and Dick in NY for their assistance with parts. - the std carbs I have for the project have been ultrasonic cleaned and the brass replaced and I tested them on my H2 rider... no issues so that's good - I had the gauges on my rider restored by Bob at Z Resto... very nice finishing and the results have been good so far - I had a some parts for my projects re-chromed... really nice work by Alberta Plating - I am getting ready to try the wrinkle paint on some gauge covers - the swing arm I found in the salvage yard has been blasted, powder coated and given new bushings and sleeves (and a new swing arm bolt and nut) - I took the engine cases that match the frame I will use to the machine shop to repair two stud holes and several bent studs. The cylinders were also rebored to fit Wiseco K107 pistons (+1.0mm). the cylinders top faces were also resurfaced. I still need to have the crankshaft rebuilt. - I am also working on my 74 Z1 project (started it about 18 months ago)... the rebuilt motor bottom end came up from the basement and went back in the frame yesterday.

Most of this summer I have been busy getting my 74 Z1A project finished and tuned. I decided to go with a 75 body kit.... my favourite from all the Z1 years. The H2 project is still making progress and I can now put more effort on it over the winter. I asked Keith ("Acceleration" on the board) to take on rebuilding the crank for this project. I would like to share the pictures of the nice work he and Duane are doing on the crank. The initial inspection showed the core was in good condition but quite far out of alignment. I don't know the history of the crank so not sure how this happened. Good pictures from Keith showing the disassembly progress and also the rust pitting on one the the rods that will be replaced.

We are pretty excited at being involved in this project. As you can see from the before disassembly pictures the crank was not straight at all, and you can see how much it is out,on the ends and the center, see it on the dial gauge. Most of the factory cranks we have checked have about .003 run out and it seems the average of what they come in at from the factory.Brother Duane is really good at rebuilding the cranks and has rebuilt a number of cranks for Triples and Yamaha's now.He just rebuilt the crank for his RD 400 project, and several RD350 LC's and RZ 350'S.He also rebuilt Adam CANKAW'S crank for his 750.He rebuilt the crank for my H1 500, the blue 400 we sold Eric, and the one for our H2 750 project. So far he has successfully been able to get the run out at .001 or under. Except for this crank not being very straight, and the pittig on the one rod, it was in pretty good condition. The oil slingers are all good.It is all glass beaded and cleaned and in the reassembly process.Found out that one of the rods had some pitting on the wrist pin bore.So we are getting a new rod and then will be completing the crank reassembly.

Will Duane do this for a service? I had someone ask recently where to get a crank done.

Hi Guys, Just a plug for Keith and his brother Duane. They have been doing work for me for decades, Duane is a genius, whether painting, engine work, whatever. He did my crank, fixed the paint on two of my bikes, they painted my car over 20 years ago and it still gets mistaken for a new job! Always good value and they're fun to hang around with too!

Awesome, I know where to send the local inquiries then. International shipping has become insane and cranks aren’t light! Sometimes it can be a pain to keep them within .001” runnout. It’s a fussy man’s job!

I just had aa crank done by Dave Singleton in California. He did a beautiful job but with deficit dollar and international shipping it was brutal on the wallet. Good to hear there are other options!
