They'll look better once the turn signals are in their mounts in front of them.

They'll look better once the turn signals are in their mounts in front of them. So how sure are you that the boys in "The Shop" know their asses from their elbows?

I've just realized that the bike has a late model swing arm on it...which after everything I've been finding does not surprise me one bit.
Besides the chain adjusters is there any real difference between the swing arms?

The resource site has photos of both the early and late ones, with a ruler next to each. The late ones are 3" longer (harder to do wheelie, not as quick handling). If I remember right, the late frames have the pivot farther forward, so the axle ends up only about an inch farther back. Putting a late arm on an early frame makes the full 3" difference. Some guys like it. I sure wouldn't. kawatriple.com/partid/swingarms/swingarms.htm

Thanks Jim;
After looking at the measurements that explains a few things, like why the swing arm opened up 3/4" when I loosened the axel nut...

Jebus, it's amazing it sprung back that much after being pulled closed like that. Nothing surprises me with this bike anymore. On the bright side atleast I will know everything is new when it goes back together:)

Is this a thing that all you guys do to check? Seems so simple, but I've never thought it

These threaded rods were used in place of the engine mount bolts. Soooo after seeing how pricy these are online I decided to take matters into my own hands. And after a little TV magic here's the final result. Working in a metallurgy lab I couldn't NOT polish something

Very nice! Those wet sanders, the turn table type for polishing samples are dangerous as heck! Lol The cool water hides the fact you are grinding down a lazy knuckle... once you run out of skin you wake up pretty quick tho! 😂
