Well, I finally made it to Ottawa to pick the bike up. Got it home, gave it a quick bath and started on it. The centre carb slide and plunger were stuck in their bores so I removed both sets of cables from the bike and soaked the carb in hot water until they were free. The carbs were filthy on the outside (still are) but I pulled them apart, soaked them in cleaner and put them back together. All the brass inside was like new and all to original spec.

Whats your over all plans with this gem Dave? keeping it stock? I was on a 500 with a 3into1 at Rb's and steve (III) was pulling along right beside the damn thing on an S2, would make a sweet little track bike for only a buck a cc. plus passing 4 strokes would feel even cooler on only 350cc's

I plan on getting it running and then probably leave it in a corner of my garage next to the S1.

Well, all the lights work but it needs a rear brake switch. The horn works and there is tons of spark! I dropped the tank off yesterday to have it cleaned and lined. I am hoping to have it back by Friday. You wouldn't believe the tread on these 30 odd years old Dunlops. I think a bit of Armor All and they will be as good as new.
