Its got some mighty nice looking wheel centers though! I am borrowing a truck to get there too.... Tell the rental to give you the ford Friggin awesome The centers is all it has going for it ... Sad really cuz it is a sharp looking car but its sitting on a crappy suspension design though it has a very smooth comfortable ride until you hit some bumps , then the back kicks out like a pissed off mule . Traction control keeps it straight . Told all this to Hyundai to no avail . All they really told me was that they have other cars in there fleet that do not have that suspension . Oh geeeeese . Thanks Hyundai . Talk about passing the buck you rich corporate pr!ck$ . So you kinda admit you fudged up but won't fix it . The fix is better shocks but they won't do it .

I believe we exceeded the upload limit on the site years ago. Best to post pictures from a link from a hosting site like photobucket.

Mike, I spent some researching the towing dilemma with the Elantra GT. What I found out is that: a) Hyundai can not void your warranty for anything you add to the car. If they can prove something you added to the car directly caused a failure, they can refuse warranty repair on that failure only...and b) the Elantra GT is rated at 750ls for towing - there are at least 4 manufacturers that sell hitches for that car.
The dealer is "fearmongering" they absolutely, under Canadian law cannot void your warranty. Think of it this way...if you add a supercharger, does that void the warranty on your radio? If you add a hitch and your engine fails due to oil pump failure (for example) they need to prove that towing something actually caused the failure.
Go ahead and add the hitch - you are at no greater risk than any other car or situation. If an F150 is rated at 2000lbs towing and your tranny fails - they are still going to try and hang you for it, but the onus is on them to prove the cause of the failure.
Best bet, as you suggested is to claim you have the hitch for a bike carrier. Not much they can say about that - oh, and the wiring harness is because you have lights on your bike rack.

Excellent Ian . Thanks for the very informative info . The manual does say that the frame and not so much the drive train is the issue with towing . If you drove this car after being in your Subaru you would see how much of a piece of shit it is when you hit a bump . The whole fukin thing jumps in the rear end . If and when I put the hitch on , I can only imagine what will happen . Do I risk the chance of having the bike trailer flip around me cuz this price of crap car can't take a bump in the road ? . The jury will be out on that . It really is that unstable . My last Hyundai was better than my honda suspension wise . This one is just a suspension throwback freek show of shit engineers being lazy f**ks about a car and just throwing leftover crap at it . In other words , it's a 3 dressed up as a nine . I can't stand the dam thing . I find any excuse now not to drive it and I told Hyundia those very same words on the phone and through emails . For now I will be renting the truck and not bringing the con any more to events . Renting the truck though has put my finances in a situation where I can not go to RB's this year . I was really hopig to as I want to jump into that oval car again and get some better lap times in . I know how to make it hook up better after some thought of last summers run .

I can lift up my dad's single bike trailer. With a small bike on it, I bet the whole package is slightly over 500LBS with very little tongue weight. If you don't drive like a maniac, I can't see you having any trouble.

My trailer is the same Dave . It weighs nothing . I just don't trust this car at all . It will never get a hitch on it . I'm getting rid of it as soon as financially feasible end of story ,,,...!!!

An Elantra towing a blue H1 Triple just passed me doing abuck10 on the 401. Seriously tho, I just seen a new Elantra, with a small trailer in tow. And Z's right BTW. Even when I piped a brand new bike, it only voided my engine warranty, the rest of the bike was still covered
