Hi all, been here for a while now and should probably let you all know whats up.
About 7-8 yrs ago I met Andrew through KTWW and went for a ride through the forks of the credit with him. He was on his newly acquired 400, I was on my `74 h2, monster green frame, yelo body works with a Rickman 1/2 fairing, remember!. Was a fun day. Things have surely changed since then. That fall I sold my H2 to a nice fellow from Philly, and bought a Ductai 749 Testarosa.(racked up a few bills with that monster)
This past May, I got 2 s2`s from Dean. My thought was to restore one of them, I chose the `73 due to it`s rarity, and the fact that I`ve always wanted one since I first rode my buddy`s girlfriends `73 s2 back in `82.
I`ve been away from the triple scene for a while and hope to be back for the long run and hopefully get a chance to meet a few of you guys in the near future.
The project as it stands so far has been a lot of fun, complete tear down, repaint and tracking down parts. It`s not going to be a true reconstruction but one I`ll want to ride often. The colour`s are not original but close and what I like, the engine is 1st over bore, the rims I`ve replaced with Sun Alum alloy with SS spokes, the seat is useable original `73 including the cover(best score yet). Most every nut, bolt(button head sockets), lock and flat washers are SS.
So this past weekend I installed the battery and it woke up from a long sleep, after restoring the harness the best I could, fingers crossed, she lit up, head light, high and low, park, signals and brakes, even the horn works, one step closer to certification.
last to do is an original air cleaner system and pipes!!, still haven`t decided what route to go as far as the exhaust is concerned.
As soon as I get a chance to photo bucket some pics, I`ll be sure to get some up.
cheers, Rick
