Yielded is a term I use for something that has past the yield point of the material, meaning permanent deformation. It appears the thread pitch is stretched and it’s necked down a bit.

I have another legitimate question for you H1 guys: do these studs always go clear through the cases? I can't recall seeing this before.

Looking good! Is it just the picture or does that one stud look like it has yielded a bit??? Also, that bent fin, do you leave it or attempt to straighten it? I'll bite - what's a yielded stud? I heated the bent fin pretty dang hot with a plumber's torch, but I was too afraid it would break when I tried to bend it back...the fins work in terms of heat dissipation - it cooled very quickly. Lost my nerve, but I'm open to suggestions! Ian for that fin try this, Coat the affected area with black sharpie marker, heat untill the black starts to dissapear, while maintaining the heat gentally apply pressure to straighten. The disappearing black indicates proper temp for the alum to become maliable. Hope this helps. Cheers

Just go slow, use a pry tool wide enough to support the entire affect area so as to get an even bend. Dont use a hammer.
