My understanding is that, technically, you don't even need a motor to get a safety! Not the case if the certifying shop is doing their work correctly, the shop that did mine performed a road test to make sure everything worked as it should. See schedule 6 section 3 www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/regs/english/elaws_regs_900611_e.htmI get that the motor is usually needed to verify the brakes, etc. and that a quality shop would do the proper "due diligence" to check the overall condition of the vehicle. However we need to remember that the "certification" is a "safety inspection". Not a, "your-motor-is-in-great-shape-and-will-give-you-years-of-happy-motoring" certification!! Technically, you could roll it down a hill and do most of the bike safety verification that way!!

The idle can't increase when the bars are turned from lock to lock. You need an engine for that test.

a kdx220 motor is much more mellow then the kx250, the 22o is smooth user friendly power tons of grunt down low with "ok" over rev, they work well in stock form with a decent pipe and a set of reeds.

Btw, that's a sweet frame. Modular front cradle system for various motors!

I have a spare Rotax 406 that I have sitting around, always wanted to put it in something and make a street tracker bike. Would love to find a Schwerma/Champion shorttrack frame and build that. Kind of a two stroke "barhopper" type of thing. Anyone have an old CAN AM TNT kicking around they want to sell??

Cool! Would the Rotax work hung in a frame like that or does it require a cradle?
