No clue but I'm sure it could be solved... Perfect!! We're both ignorant of the obstacles. We can't fail!!

Absolutely! If we knew what we were doing, we would never attempt something like this... Lol

There's a video from this years Deals Gap rally where a guy did exactly that! Cool looking machine! I do like the idea of a single though, it helps keep the cost down... Multi cylinder wise, I'm still planning 800cc Polaris triple!

You guys are really making me want one of those G3's. I saw you on the highway again... That CDN sticker makes you easy to spot.

Ninja 250 with RZ350/Banshee engine... Or is that too many cylinders? Nice project but one too many for this "Section". Dragged some bits and pieces to the shop tonight. Nothin' to get too excited about, but it's a start. Maybe a start for 2 projects!! No pics yet... sorry. I'll try to get some on Friday.

Wouldn't we get screwed on an emissions test using a modern frame though?

Easy to change the stator for a one with a charging coil. My last kx250 was an 03. I put an electrex stator in it that would run a headlight. Oddly enough I used it with heated grips in the winter.
Best part was the grips would only stay warm riding WFO!
But yes easy to do. Little power generated but with LED's for lighting... No problem.

but then why not find a kdx220 motor, they are already setup with a much better lighting system
but then again why not call up baja designs and get some REAL lights for your kx500 motor!!!

Sooper, I'm really out of touch with modern dirt bikes! I was thinking to stick with a stock motor, ie. no porting... Are the KDX's high strung like the KX's out of the box? How about HP, what ballpark would the 220's and 250's make?

Wouldn't we get screwed on an emissions test using a modern frame though? No emissions test required. Just don't reveal the motor that's in it. My understanding is that, technically, you don't even need a motor to get a safety!

My understanding is that, technically, you don't even need a motor to get a safety! Not the case if the certifying shop is doing their work correctly, the shop that did mine performed a road test to make sure everything worked as it should. See schedule 6 section 3 www.e-laws.gov.on.ca/html/regs/english/elaws_regs_900611_e.htm
