Ok before you ask, yes I did remove the screws! the switch won't come through the hole as the lever looks too long and binds. Does the lever come apart from the switch? I want to polish the cases and don't want to mess up the plastic bits. Everything else came apart easy except the high/low switch.

There is a small star screw in the side of the switch that you have to remove but I see you got around it no prob . Nice work !!!If you do decide to remove it be careful . They will strip real easy and I swear they used red loctite on the bugger to keep it in there . I tapped the screwdriver first with my hammer to kinda do the lighter version of an impact thingy to loosen it up a bit . It;s a prig though , no doubt about it . I also soaked the stuff in evapo-rust , wires and all . Then I put on some dielectric grease on all the slidy parts and electricl male and female joints . Here's a pic of mine that are all done and painted up as close to stock as I could make it .
