Restored with no intention of starting it.................. would that mean no crank or pistons, do the electrics work? I would need to go see it if I was spending that $$$$$$$ not that I have it

Yea. My thoughts exactly... Some of the pics there is loose wiring on it. He really should put more of an explanation about that on his add. Tough sell with no info avail to the purchaser.

On the original auction falling-through, the seller states in his latest auction:
"Item relisted due to non-paying buyer."
I am not sure if I missed this statement the first time I read the auction or not. On the bike not being started, obviously the seller intended the bike to be a trailer queen. An interested party could contact the seller to see if the bike has the H1R pistons and crank; I presume it does, but I would of course contact the seller if I was serious. Not that big of a deal. On the electronics, it appears the bike has the upgraded H1RA magneto CDI (this iggy carried over to the H2R); if the electronics are not working, they could probably be sorted and/or repaired without too much hassle (contact the seller on the iggy system condition too).

Squish did you ever find a supplier for the tach rubber for the h1r?
Or the rubber mounts for the engine?

Every builder I talked to said that rubber spacers between the engine & frame would not do anything. In fact would make the handling sloppy because it would be less riggid.I made aluminum spacers for mine.

Arthur,
I am not looking for H1R tach rubber, or the H1R rubber bushings for the engine mounting. I think it might someone else you were talking with who was looking for these parts.

On the rubber spacers making the frame less rigid ->
I believe JA-Moo (I think it was him) mentioned that possibly Kevin Cameron commented that of the H1 & H2 street bikes, the frame engine mount brackets were fairly flimsy, and it would therefore not matter to chassis stiffness if the engine was rubber mounted – the frame’s engine mount brackets were not stiff enough to add stiffness to the overall frame structure. Also, I think the later KR750 triple race bike (evolved from the H2R) had a full-floating rubber mounted engine; this was one step better than the earlier H1R/H2R, which just had basically rubber spacers (engine was not full-floating on rubber dampers).

The full floating rubber mounts of course do work,no question. The original idea was good.My H1ra is a late model with the thiner frame than the early ones.A solid mounted engine has got to be more rigid & help handling. It sure can't hurt.

IMO I think most of the flexing happens at the headstock, the area where the engine is cradled is not the area of concern. At least in my playing with the frame with solidworks, beefing up the down tubes in front of the motor did very little for rigidity... You'd be further off, bracing the back bone and head stock area. If you look at the rubber mounting, the bolts are preloaded with spacers anyway which means the bolt assembly would need to bend to create a "s" shape if the frame were to scissor in that area.

Brad,
Is it just a few of the tubes that are thinner on the late model H1RA, or is it all tubes? Can you post a link to a pic of your bike?
Thanks, John K.

Just the tubes in the rear section.
