I put the reeds on the cage and I can see a little light at the tip, I flipped them over with the same result. I noticed on my cage theres a black rubber coating that seems to make the stock reeds fit better. Do I need to scrape the rubber coating down to get them to fit? Any tips that you other guys came across would be great.

I had TDR reeds on my RZ350 for a little while. Is the gap very small with just visible light? The pressure wave at the intake when the piston goes down should shut them firmly against the cage. I would just install them as is.. That's my opinion anyway.

Not sure if we are talking about the same thing or not but I had a problem with my RD350LC first thing I checked was reeds and I noticed that when I held the cage up to the light I could see maybe .5 mm of light coming in from the flaps, I also flipped them and it was still the same, this does not seem to matter, at least on my bike because the reads worked perfect, I even bought new ones and it was the same, one more thing I had mentioned it on this site and a few guys, who I can honestly say know way more then I do, well thats not saying much, everyone here knows more then I do :-)hahaha, but they had said that little bit is not the problem at all, they were right. I hope that helps

It is not a problem,
the reeds don't "seal" really, they bounce open and closed.
