Is there supposed to be a special screw in the rotary valve cover just above the oil inlet fitting? This picture from the service manual suggests that there is but my engine just has ordinary screws. If so has anyone got the part number for it or dimensions so I can make a couple? Thanks guys.

I got an answer to my question on a A7-A1 forum. a1a7.com/forum/index.phpThere is supposed to be a special screw in that position with an oil-way machined into it to allow oil feed to the big end bearing. It's a wonder there was no damage done to the engine with those oil passages virtually blocked. There were some of these screws on e-bay and I ordered some. I could have made some but the ones I ordered were only $1 each. The screw looks like this. The screw goes in the hole at the top of the rotary valve cover just to the right of the carb opening. As you can see in this pic there was just a regular screw there before. There must have been enough oil getting around the threads to keep the bearings happy.
