Just wondering...if I still have the ownership to a 69' H1, what would I have to do to recover the bike since the ownership is in my possession and not transfered or written on at all?
I traded a guy named Scott Lily for a van a long time ago. Is there any chance of get'n it back?

Dumb question, how come he never got the ownership from you for the bike way back? Best to talk to the dude first and see if it is still around, and second try to acquire it in good faith. I still have an H2 in my name... but I couldn't do it

I agree Don. I couldn't do it as well. I would feel like I was stealing the bike..I'd go and see if he still has it and if so..make a deal.

I'm sure if you traded for a van you must have gave a receipt in lou of the ownership. With that receipt he could get a new ownership.I would try to find him & buy it back. Brad

Strangely enough possesion is still 9/10ths of the law. The other 10% is proof of ownership, so, if you can prove that then you have to get the item (in this case your bike) into your possesion. And that is the key to you possessing it. That can be as easy as a nice casual conversation where he agrees to be nice about it ,or, to keep it or its been sold to someone else who has ownership papers somehow or then there are many possibilities as you well know. Finding it is one thing, and getting it from someone who does not want to let it go would require (in most provinces) a sheriff and some documentation filed at a courthouse to let the sheriff have authority to seize it. The easiest way is to have a chat with the guy you traded and see where his head is at. Stay cool, let him know how muh it means to you and see if he will make it easy. Any owner after him is going to be harder unless its taking up space and they just want to be rid of it. However,,, when you want it they often start to see value in it and become overly possesive or greedy. I hope you get it back and I am sure it will be interesting. But you do have proof of ownership if you can find it and you really want to go through the steps. Don't you just love the way things went when you were young and foolish!!! I mean we all were right?

Don't you just love the way things went when you were young and foolish!!! I mean we all were right? Yup. Somewhere near Orillia, there is a barn with a '66 Mustang Fastback (289 4 spd) in it. I bought it in 1980 while I was in university, figuring I would restore it..blah, blah. Of course I had no where to put it so my brother arranged to get his buddy to put it in his other buddy's barn. The first buddy left town...and no one knows where the car is.. ;D Dumbass...I had the ownership for a while...that's lost too now..
