Evaporust can/will leave a nasty black finish if left on/in too long. You'll want to check it every couple of hours. Happened to me right about the 24 hour mark. Yes I have noticed that, I rubbed that black off but I do wonder what that black is or why it happens?

I recently used a product called The Works and it did an amazing job of cleaning a very rusty tank. Left it in for about 24 hours and it came out very clean. However this product only seems to be available in the states.

I just did mine in Evapo-Rust due to a leak that I had to have welded . I let it sit for 24 hrs or so and then strained and drained it then flushed the tank with some gas . Looks fine inside and so far no probs with the bike as I have been riding through a tank and a half since doing this .

ya that evapo rust is nice stuff and its re usable, as long as you strain it I keep 5 litres at any given time.
