Ok, so, any suggestions how to remove 40 year old stickers from tank and side covers besides with a sander??? I tried varsol but to no avail. There is industrial glue removers that will work but I've always used either nail polish remover or ammonia cut with water and a flat razor blade. The key to removal is make sure the blade is always wet and it's goes rather nicely. Once the stickers are gone the nail polish remover will get off the glue. If you don't care about the paint then I use Aircraft paint stripper or a steam jenny with kick butt pressure to strip them off. If using stripper then I normally score the decal with a good blade to allow the stripper to work faster. Stripper can be had at most autobody supply stores.

isopropyl alcohol, aka I.P.A. Dampen a rag or paper towel and mask over it with plastic. Let that sit for 1/2 hour or so and the sticker should come right off. Possibly WD40.
Good luck!

Grab your Wife's hairdryer (when she's not looking) & carefully heat up the sticker to soften it along with its adhesive backing. Gently peel it off, any residual adhesive can be removed with Varsol. always works for me, DO NOT USE A HEAT GUN, leave that to the professionals.. SoupD.

Heat works, I've placed the stickered object in front of my space heater and can usually pull off the sticker in one piece before the stickered object is ruined by the heat.

I have already secretly stolen one from her and she uses a new one which, of course, was alot more expensive, and she still doesn't know what happened to "that nice white one I had"

By the way, my hair still looks good. What's left of it anyway.
