Well I have a red 83 R80RT sitting in the shed Ready to go this September and I have a 74 H2 as well. The beemer seems awkward after riding the Triples for such a long time

Thanks! It's a '77 r100rs, First model year actually manufactured in late '76, low s/n. I did a 90% restoration about 4 years ago. matched the paint to the original. It has a few extras and is actually for sale right now as I want a KLR 650 and have too many bikes! I'll post add and pics when time permits. I'm with H2 Dude on that comment although there is something to be said for a fairing and fuel economy!

The oil heads where a very good design, easy to maintain and will run forever. My '06 RT will hit 50,000 Kms next month so I can't really complain. The only problems I've had was a battery went south the first season, bad battery I was told and the only other thing was the rear out side final drive seal, all repaired under warranty.
Ian you'll have to show me your RT when the boys aren't around, we don't want some drunken crazed triple freak torching the shed because you have a diesel out there! ;D
Again machZ, your bikes look great!!

Like Hawg guys burning Honda's ;D I have had 3 batteries ( 1 under warranty) and this one is going on 7 years . 1 seat replaced ( foam collapsed) under warranty. 1 speedo cable ( warranty) Replace exhaust under warranty and for the last 17 years I have Whisper tone mufflers. Replaced front wheel bearings. Replace clutch plates and oil seal at 80,000 miles. 1 set of rear brakes and front pads 1 lower crankcase housing..I rode over a pipe sticking out of the ground I have seem many and I mean many Goldwings in for repair that cost $$$$$ in half the mileage than my Beemer. It was everything else than the motor on those wings.
