While minding my own business I stumble upon what appears to be a 1987 RD 250 D
I tried to not look but the price is right and it's all there (except seat foam and key) but rough.... a complete once over bike... turns over with decent feeling compression.
Now if was a 70's orange and white creamsicle it would be at home by now... but thought I would look into parts sources which seem scarce.
Whats out there for forums and vendors for these things?

I'm guessing you mean '77? Parts shouldn't be hard to find at all. As for forums, there is USA2Strokers and 2 stroke world. Got a pic?

Steering head had an 87 as part of the serial numbers stamped it so I assumed, no wonder parts were so hard to find I can take a photo but that may lead to pulling out the wallet etc.

On RD's you can tell a lot from the first 3 digits on the frame and engine numbers. Also, I am not too sure about '76+ RD250s even making it to North america. I could be wrong though.

I was at a farm here on business the other day and they had 2 bikes sitting in the corner of the shop, dusty but very good shape, one was a 1972 (I think) Gold and Black Yamaha 250 and the other was a 1965 Suzuki T10 (250 prior to the X6) it had the weird shaped headlight, short seat, rack behind the seat, hydraulic rear brakes, the little splash guard on the rear fender and it turnes over, but, they have sentimental value so they are keeping them, they would be easy to fix up. I finally explained to them what they had, I was dealing with the 2 sons about 25 years old and the bikes had belonged to their dad and their uncle, both of whom had died (cancer) , they had no idea??

So how much do they want for each? The 65 Suzuki brings back fond memories of my X6... See if there is a price on them for me please.

Now that I managed to leave the 250 where it was.... a friend has come up with 5 rolling 350 RD's complete with a ton of parts and I have my eye on the 71 (orange and white) and possibly the siezed Daytona Special.
I'd imagine they hold about the same value as a comparable triple?
So back to the original question, hows parts for these, and who are the good vendors. Also the populars forums?
